So posting yesterday about Crescent City reminded me that I never posted about what I thought of Kingdom of Cages. So here is a spoiler free review. The premise of the book is that there is a disease that is killing people on all the different worlds except one and they need to find a cure. Considering the current global health crisis, I saw a lot of similarities in the situations. Reading about how far some people would go to find a cure, it reminded me a lot about what our society is capable of doing. I do definitely recommend the book, especially considering how it mirrors our current situation despite being written almost 20 years ago. The lead character is a strong teenage girl who faces change and loss, and overcomes all of it. She does have a crush on one of the male characters, but there is no huge romantic relationship arc, instead there is a strong sisterly bond. Despite falling apart a bit, in the end they are closer than ever. I actually like this a lot more than having a huge romantic ending. Romantic love isn't the only kind of love. Sisters bonding is even better in my opinion. The world building is done incredibly. The differences in the classes of citizens is very apparent, and is done so well. The world is believable, and the introduction of it to the reader is done well. Chena, the main character, moves to a new home at the beginning, so she is learning about this new world along with the reader, and it helps to make her very relatable. Overall, the book is very well written, and the plot is intriguing. I do wish that there would have been a bit more of a conclusive ending, or possibly a sequel. I definitely recommend this book. I haven't read any of the other works by @sarahzettelauthor , but they are on my TBR list. #sarahzettel #kingdomofcages #bookstagram #booklover #bookoftheweek #reading (at Niagara Falls, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/CE0QABqj4r5/?igshid=1q6oipi8j5647
