They had been fake married for a while now. It was starting to feel almost real for Steve, except whenever he reminded himself that it was just a job. When this mission was over, him and Carol would go back to being friends and colleagues. He tried not to think about how much he didn’t want to go back to being friends.
They were walking back to their hotel suite, arm in arm, from a dinner out with their mark. The meal had gone well and Carol had managed to gain additional information that needed to be fed back to HQ. “You did good tonight,” Steve said as he adjusted his arm around Carol’s waist, inadvertently pulling her body to press closer to his as they walked.
