I have made some progress!

I've posted an interlude for the Sarah/Ice/Mav story I previously discussed, which I am calling, very appropriately, "For Better Or Worse".

Or maybe that's just a trite cliche, I don't know.

Photographs From Home. At the start of a new deployment, Maverick hangs up pictures in his locker.

A brief rundown:

Iceman and Sarah are married

Maverick, Iceman, and Sarah are in a relationship

They have a baby, about a year old, biologically Ice's

This also means I've created a series on AO3 for this story! For Better Or Worse.

I'm going to be gathering support materials there.

ADIIIII! Yes! Saricemav, my Top Gun x Top Gun Maverick polyam fic that

Well, really it's set between these two, sometime in the 1990s. The premise is more or less, Ice and Mav are in an established relationship, that, given the time, only a few select people are aware of. They both also know that there are certain...expectations and so they agree to date other people to keep up appearances.

Iceman meets Sarah while Mav is on deployment and they get along exceedingly well and Ice really, really likes her. He introduces her to Mav when he gets back, and things develop from there.

“Are you nervous?” Mav asks a few days later, squeezing his hand. “About me meeting Sarah?” “A bit,” Ice admits. He isn’t sure what he hopes for; Mav and Sarah getting along and Mav being okay with pursuing a meaningful relationship with her or—no, that’s exactly what he hopes. He doesn't want to imagine them not liking each other. He feels so much for both of them. He loves Mav, he knows that—Mav knows that—, but he is also extremely attracted to Sarah. He could easily love her; maybe he already does. And, here’s the thing, he wouldn’t have to hide his relationship with Sarah. It would take so many eyes off of him, always speculating why he never has a long-term partner. The rumor mill would quiet down. So, looking at it that way, being with Sarah would be easier but then he’d be missing a vital part of himself—half his heart. Fuck. Either way, Sarah is coming over for dinner that evening.

More SarIceMav progress from the For Better Or Worse universe.

Summary:

Three times Maverick is anxious about telling Carole something about his relationship with Ice and one time that he's excited.

More can be read on this tumblr tag or on the AO3 series, but briefly and with few spoilers, the main story starts with Ice - who identifies as gay - and Mav in a relationship when Ice meets Sarah and agrees to fake date her. This leads to him marrying her for convenience, the three of them agreeing to have kids together, and eventual polyamory.

I’m contemplating the classic question of whether to finish the whole thing or post. I probably know the answer (which is to wait).

Sarah is meeting Mav right now. It is going well.
