It’s Saturday morning and with nothing better to do I wrote some sad akusai’s ft. Riku. Enjoy :V
He was thinking about what had happened to Isa, and it made him shudder, the leather of his gloves squeaking as he tightened his hands into fists. Riku eyed him curiously but didn't say anything. The others didn't seem to notice, too busy planning the next training regimen.
He needed air. Lea excused himself with a mumble that he didn't even understand and pushed his way out the door. He took the stairs two at a time, his heart racing. (Still a fairly new feeling in of itself.) He made his way outside, breathing in the twilight air. He didn't even bother closing the door behind him, instead leaning against a nearby wall for support, breathless. His heart ached and he grabbed his chest. A futile gesture, really, but it was all he could do, especially when he felt the wetness on his cheeks. He'd gone so long without crying, but here he was, tears dripping down his face like--
“Everything alright?”
He didn't look up, just squeezed his eyes shut. Dammit. This day couldn't get any worse, could it?
“Yeah.” He cursed inwardly when his voice cracked slightly. He cleared his throat, wiped his tears away quickly, and tried again. “Yeah, I'm fine.”
“You don't look fine. You look like you haven't slept in a week,” Riku scoffed.
Well, he hadn't. At least not properly, anyway. “Thanks for reminding me of my bags. Was there something you needed?”
“You also haven't eaten,” Riku continued, not acknowledging the fact he'd even spoken. “Everytime we get dinner, you just poke at your food. And you're not focused during training – your Keyblade hasn't been responding lately...”
“I appreciate the concern,” Lea muttered, biting back a more scathing retort, “but I'm fine.”
“You've been thinking about Saix haven't you?”
Lea whipped his head around to face him, his lip curled back and a scowl on his face. “His name is--”
“Sorry, Isa, I... forgot.” Riku scratched the back of his head, but his face was stern. “You should try to--”
“Don't, Riku. Just...” Lea sighed, running his hands through his hair. “You can't ask me to forget about him. That'd be like you forgetting Sora or Kairi, alright? I just can't do that.” He sat down on the step with another sigh.
Riku sat next to him, giving him some space. “Okay, I won't.” He looked up at the sky. “In fact, if you'd let me finish,” he said wryly, “I would have said you should try to focus more on who you're really doing this for.”
Lea looked at him in confusion. “What?”
“You heard me.” He leaned back, elbows resting on the steps above him. “I know for a fact you couldn't give two shits about the state of the worlds, regardless of what you tell Master Yen Sid. It's not who you are. You put anything that doesn't benefit you on the back burner. So of course I didn't understand why you joined our cause at first. I couldn't figure out what benefit you had to all of... this.” He waved his hand as if gesturing to all they'd been working for. “But then I remembered what happened at the World That Never Was. About how we found out that Sai--” A stern look from Lea and he quickly corrected himself, “-- Isa was part of the real Organization. And I asked the Master about it, and he said you'd been looking for 'a friend' beforehand; it wasn't hard to put two and two together.” Riku turned and looked at Lea, his expression softened. “I know what it's like to want to fight for a friend. To do just about anything for them, sacrifices notwithstanding. So rather than think about how much you miss him... focus on bringing him home.”
Lea turned away, biting his lip. Damn, the kid made sense.
Riku stood up and walked up the steps. Stopping at the door, he chuckled. “Aren't you glad I didn't tell you to forget him?”
Lea smirked. “I couldn't forget him if I wanted to,” he retorted. “Believe me, I try all the time.”
