one afternoon in chipotle

"so then i said to him, john, we're not getting back together, and that's that!" laurinda looked exasperated at her ex-boyfriend's persistence in wanting to date her again. everyone knew that she was still interested, but she was playing hard to get for now. she took a sip of her sprite and looked over at abigail and kevin. "didn't you guys break up for a while?" 

kevin tightened his grip on abigail's waist and she shifted on his lap, making herself more comfortable in his arms. "mmm, yeah," kevin said vaguely. "maybe a month and a half ago."

laurinda looked at the two of them and frowned a little. "well, tell me more!" serena, garrett, madison, and sam all leaned forward and nodded, wanting to hear the story. 

"well, ah, it started over ..." kevin began.

"over?" sam said. "over what?"

kevin looked up at abigail, who answered the question a little hesitantly: "over sex." she said it like it was a question.

they were sophomores, so it wasn't really that shocking that they had had an argument over sex. but exactly what the argument had been over was another matter.

"like, position problems or ...?" garrett's voice trailed off as he squeezed serena's hand.

kevin smiled, chuckled. "no, we never have those. it was more like, ah, how often and where."

madison and sam laughed, too. "like, how often did you do it before the argument?" madison asked them. 

abigail replied with a laugh of her own. "maybe three times a week?"

"so, never," garrett said. "we do it five times a week." he kissed serena passionately, to applause from laurinda. 

"how could you have an argument over where?" sam asked.

"kevin didn't like doing it at my house," abigail explained, "so we had to pick a new place to do it." when there was an expectant pause, she went on, "his house, and occasionally at school."

"school?" laurinda asked incredulously. "where in the school?"

kevin smiled. "boy's locker room."

"i think that's enough of this talk, okay, kevin?" abigail said, kissing him lightly on the lips. "i don't think they need to know every detail of our sex lives."
