After Anne helped them calm down with gentle touches and words in a signature way that was just so Anne, they’d talked about what triggered them for some time, which left the both of them feeling drained. When that conversation was winding down and they were getting ready to properly go to sleep, without properly thinking, Anne kissed the faint five year old scar on Marcy’s cheek.

The action made them both freeze in place after they’d realised what had happened. Before, all three girls were very careful about their own and each other’s scars, given that they were physical reminders of how much they all carried with them. And they’d talked about them, sure, but they’d never touched the scars. That was just too much.

And Anne had accidentally forgone the unspoken agreement.

She panicked, ready to apologise over and over again for her carelessness. But Marcy had anticipated this and shut that down, telling her that they didn’t mind it, that they liked it, actually.
