Yuuichirou made up his mind, that’s what he told himself. No matter how nervously he’d shifted his feet around there was no going back. Mikaela had reassured him as he explained his plan but even so, he wore this gentle smile of his as if telling him that despite all his good intentions, he should rather save his breath.
However, here he stood now in front of the wide door that was supposed to lead directly into the huge throne hall. To Krul Tepes, to be exact. That is assuming if he indeed turned at the right corridors or else he was completely lost. There was no way he’d be well versed around here, ever.
Before he started to panick for real, he should get himself through those damned doors already. He heaved out a long sigh, pushing the massive knobs without any further hesitation in order to slip unobtrusively into the queen’s presence. His body unintentionally stiffened. Sweat already began planting on his forehead as he walked towards the nobly throne occupied by a petite young woman.
The raven-haired dropped down on one knee, bowing in front of her. Fuck. In all honesty he had no fucking clue about royal standards and how to behave toward the highest ranked of all people. Now he kneeled in front of the vampire queen for what felt like an eternity before he raised his head eventually, meeting the pinkette’s gaze.
“I am here to..t-to..have a speech!”
Jesus Christ! As if that wasn’t weird enough he awkwardly fiddled with the black fabric of his nobly knight’s uniform as if he had hidden a piece of paper with helpful notes that he hadn’t even written.
While he held gaze with Krul Tepes he bet his face must have turned at least three shades redder if he didn't look like a tomato already. Ok, he definitely made a fool of himself. With admitting the undeniable fact he lifted himself up from the floor, clearing his dry throat. Perhaps there was no need to feigned royal manners.
"Krul Tepes, I'm here today to thank you."
As the latter words escaped his lips he felt to catch the queen's attention.
"I have came into knowledge of your birthday that's supposed to be today. Although I'm aware that our kind does not cherish the essence of time for that everything is infinite, I can't bring up myself to leave these habits of bygone human days."
A sadness laced his voice and even so he accepted his fate for that the time he was now able to spend with his dearest friend was no longer limited by a lifetime.
"Thank you for saving Mika and me."
Internally he was struggling but the curious look on the queen’s face indicated Yuu to continue. Perhaps.
"I failed to realize the good in things before but you literally saved me, too. I'm aware that words like this don't need an occasion but elsewhen I probably wouldn't have been able to muster the courage."
The corners of his lips kept tugging upwards, he felt awkward but no longer inconvenient as a genuine smile displayed on his features.
The woman in front of him, he didn't know much. But from now on he was determined to learn more about her, willing to truly get to know her. If it wasnt for her, Mika would have been dead for quite a long time, and Yuu's soul crippled beyond repair.
"It's an honor to serve you, Krul Tepes. Both, Mika and me will always be there when you need us to be. Just call."
And so, he turned on his heel, swinging his black cloak. He felt grateful. He still felt like a human.
And he was not willing to give up on the shreds of humanity as long as there was one person reminding him of what has been left. Also, he wanted the other vampires without such a privilege to feel the same.
To feel hope in eternity.
