is it just me or did sasuke, when he came back-ish, sort of... EXPECT to be forgiven? he just walks in like 'im gonna be hokage' and then after not becoming hokage just walks into kohona like he DIDNT try to kill the person he who spend YEARS forgiving everything he did,,,,, like young sasuke was all 'why would you care about someone like me >:( :"( " but then years after abandoning every1 and losing all morality he has the audacity to expect every1 to accept a 'hokage said uchiha rights'

so basically it all boils down to Bad Writing™ but since that goes for 99% of all naruto related things i’m just gonna go ahead and say that in sasuke’s case he kinda just… takes the things he has for granted for most of the series. and like the weirdest thing about that is that it shouldn’t be that way!! it doesn’t fit with his character or how it should be like back when he was 12 he cared so much about his bonds with team 7 because he knew how terrible loneliness felt but fast forward 4 years later and the thought of there still being people in the world left who care about you is now basically… meaningless. it all means nothing. and like yeah ok he had his own goals and he couldn’t afford to have anyone get in is way but do you know just how many other characters would’ve killed to have people show concern for them?? to have those who tell them that they still matter and are important to their lives??? from a writing point of view literally no one but sasuke had anyone go so far for them or any narrative privileges. he basically has plot armor so strong that even if the entire world realistically turned against him for his actions no legitimate threat would come from it. but even that doesn’t happen since he is immediately pardoned for all the crimes he has done because he helped in the war even if he wanted to like,,, become ninja world president afterwards or whatever and then suddenly everyone conveniently choses to forget everything he ever did. wack.

so it’s not so much of a case where he expected to be forgiven, it’s that he was already essentially forgiven, by both team 7 and the narrative. side characters’ opinions on the matter who have every right to be mad at sasuke be damned. it doesn’t matter if nobody wanted him to be hokage because in naruto, side characters have no rights. when he said his goal was to become hokage, it wasn’t in a “lol hey everyone vote for me to become ninja president” way it was more of a “i will become hokage whether the people want me to or not and i will use any force necessary to do so” route. and then after that chapter it just.. never gets brought up again because the entire world now views him as a hero which is just hmmmm. everybody just automatically forgives him without even thinking while sasuke does the bare minimum, if anything at all, to earn their trust again while everyone else who has wronged others have actual consequences that affect them and have to work hard to obtain everybody’s forgiveness. and if anyone does try to call sasuke out on his actions or dare get angry at him for what he’s done, then they’re painted in a negative light and are seen as the bad guys (e.g. karui, A, etc). apparently their feelings are unimportant, so they don’t get any explanation beyond “this character is against sasuke, and sasuke (a main character no less) has a tragic childhood which is why he does the things he does, therefore this character is Wrong”. i mean maybe, just maybe, if sad backstories weren’t incorrectly utilized as tools to excuse characters’ actions, we wouldn’t be having this problem. but maybe that’s just me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

bottom line is, his consequences are terribly disproportionate to his actions, and have no lasting impact. he gets a free pass for anything he does. and y’know what, it gets old. if this frequently happened to every character then it wouldn’t be nearly as frustrating but this is a clear display of author favoritism at its peak. kishimoto really said fuck non sasuke lives… 😔😔

but yeah i completely agree with you and i myself have always wondered the exact same thing for years. like.. this is the series where a man who can’t write for shit and has been sinking down his own series for years with plot holes and inconsistencies you really think there’s gonna be a perfect character in it??? lmao. i can’t speak for all sasuke fans since i know very few who are actually v chill people but a huge amount of them here are so uptight like damn nobody said anything about your real lives fhfhdfj. like for example i like itachi but his actions were literally so dumb and he did very much traumatize sasuke :/ kakashi is a fav but he really could’ve doneway better as a teacher because honestly he SUCKED as one. and obito…. oh my god…….. i love obito but he really was the dumbest most biggest Bitch alive and also he’s objectively invalid and i roast him 24/7 ndddbdglg. it really is possible to joke about ur faves huh… who knew…..

like we’re all out here making jokes on every single character yet the only ones who take things personal and get angry / offended about it are sasuke stans and that just…. i have literally never seen a fictional character be so woobified to disproportionate degrees by their fans so what i just do now is put up a sort of barrier where i only really talk to a very specific group people who just casually like sasuke because tumblr sasuke stans are a Mess their behavior is downrightconcerning like nope. and even just posting this i’m sure somehow a sauce stan will see it and get mad so adjhvhfvdf there really is no getting thru saying what u really think without running the risk of getting stoned by them so if any of them just wants to start shit im blocking byeeee af.

sasuke is a very volatile combination of dramatically edgy and downright Stupid and these are the true sources of all his problems

mmm yeah.. honestly i feel as if kishimoto was trying to put in wayyy too much into his character which caused the end product to suffer and by extension the entire story itself. it’s as if he went “let’s see how much more of an asshole i can make him be than the previous chapter” nonstop while also trying too hard to make him seem sympathetic while only showing the bare minimum of hope for redemption like.. he really did want it both ways lmao. kishi blease… take a writing course you r e a l l y need it…..
