hey. i have EDS, too (and satan-hips, blah)...just a tip: if usual local anesthetics(esp. lidocaine) don't work for you, bupivicaine/sensorcaine might, as is the case for me. might be worth an ask.
for some reason tumblr did not alert me to this ask until I checked my inbox, so sorry this is a really late answer!
I will definitely ask the consultant about alternatives when I see him again - I don't know what anaesthetic they were using last time but I do know my mother (who I get the EDS from) has had problems with lidocaine not working so it could be a similar issue. (Also, I am saving the phrase satan-hips for future use.)
