‘Every passing hour brings the Solar System 43,000 miles closer to Globular Cluster M13 in (constellation) Hercules – and still there are some misfits who insist that there is no such thing as progress.’ (Ransom K. Fern)

BFM takes down 'hudud' video, condemns death, rape threats against presenter
KUALA LUMPUR, March 20, 2015:
The video released by BFM Media Sdn Bhd yesterday was not intended to question the desirability of the hudud implementation in Kelantan.
Actually, the video was merely a commentary that questioned the priority of the state amid other issues facing the people there, the company clarified today.
“The video was intended to provide a satirical commentary on whether the implementation of hudud should be the top priority of the Kelantan government and legislature, particularly in light of pressing economic and flood reconstruction issues faced by the people of Kelantan.
“However, judging by the comments we received on various sites, it is clear that some of our audience understood us to be questioning the desirability of hudud.
“In fact we had no intention to do so. We merely asked that our audience should consider legitimate questions around its implementation. We wish to apologise if this caused any offence,” BFM Media said in a statement today.
It also said that due to some people finding the material offensive, the video called “Hudud Isi Periuk Nasi?” had been taken down.
At the same time, BFM Media also regretted the personal attacks faced by the presenter in the video, Aisyah Tajuddin.
Apart from drawing flak, Aisyah had been receiving death and rape threats from social media users following the release of the video.
“We wholly and unreservedly condemn the vile and vicious threats that have been levelled against Aisyah. Such threats are not only against the laws of our country, but have no place in a society that espouses peace and tolerance.
“We wish to state that Aisyah is merely a stand-in cast member of the video and is not its regular presenter.
“She is not the author of the script and so the views of the video are not a reflection of her personal stance on the issue,” added the company.
The video was part of “The Kupas” video series, a collaboration between BFM Media and Projek Dialog.
While the video was turned private by the company yesterday evening, it still made rounds on the Internet.
In the video, Aisyah raised issues such as the fate of Kelantan flood victims and the increase in drug-related cases, later questioning whether hudud would be able to fill the rice bowls of those in the state when the time came.
