These chicken sausage subs are packed with flavor and make for a satisfying meal. They're easy to make and customizable with your favorite toppings.
Ingredients: 4 chicken sausages. 4 sub sandwich rolls. 1 onion, thinly sliced. 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced. 4 slices provolone cheese. 1/4 cup marinara sauce. 1 tablespoon olive oil. Salt and pepper to taste. Optional toppings: shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, pickles.
Instructions: Preheat oven to 350F 175C. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and bell peppers, season with salt and pepper, and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes. In the same skillet, add chicken sausages and cook until browned and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. Slice the sub sandwich rolls horizontally and place them on a baking sheet. Place a slice of provolone cheese on one side of each roll. Divide the cooked onions and bell peppers among the rolls, then place a cooked chicken sausage on top. Spoon marinara sauce over the chicken sausages. Top each sub with optional toppings if desired, then place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the subs are heated through. Serve hot and enjoy!
