Hey! My new semester just started last month and i have lost all motivation. I have been diagnosed with depression lately and there are times when i feel like i am going to start over and everything is going to be fine but it has happened again and again and i have rebooted again and again. I don’t know what to do i have very big dreams and I sometimes indulge in bad habits and I feel like doing absolutely nothing during those times....what should i do??
hey! so sorry for the late reply! The first thing I would say is to be easier on yourself, you’re doing great by even just acknowledging the fact that you feel like you’re slipping up and want to do something about it. Most definitely keep your dreams and forgive yourself when you momentarily indulge in a bad habit we are all human, we all could use a little lazy day once in a while.
•What you could maybe try to do to reboot yourself and make yourself feel like you are doing something during those bad days is the concept of having ‘no zero days’ is which basically means doing a little something every day. It just means that you write like a paragraph of an essay a day when you’re feeling down or do just two questions on that chemistry sheet or whatever. It will just make you feel so much more productive that at least even if you haven’t gotten everything you need to do done you’ve at least made a start!
•you could make yourself a small moodboard of your aspirations on like your phone or on your wall to try to motivate yourself. So like sticking a picture of your dream job or uni beside your desk might help inspire you.
• make a checklist of small things that you do in the day to be proud of yourself and get yourself going. Like taking a shower, drinking water, making a healthy snack, attempting that question, reading a page of that book. ticking small stuff might make it easier to do the bigger stuff and it is making you proud of your accomplishments no matter what size.
I hope the semester gets better for you! x
