Cali: Day 1
So, yesterday was awesome. Bear in mind, I decided since I had to be at the airport at 3AM that sleep that night would be pointless. So.
1. Surmounted my fear and distaste of flying. Meditated on the way up, found peace on the way down, and my transfer flight was seamless and easy to cope with, despite the turbulence over the Rockies. I just decided to see the beauty in it, that I, combined with a hundred other humans, were in a huge metal bird flying at breakneck speeds over hundreds of beautiful miles of country. I am rather proud of myself, considering I've hated planes ever since I was 3.
2. I have been reuinted with the love of my life, and I kissed her for the first time in 3 months. And then some. But the point is I missed her, and now I have her back for 10 days, and I'm gonna make use of every second.
3. She took me around San Francisco, then we went on a surprise day trip with her roommates Nadia and Megan and Megan's twin sister Caitlin, who's also visiting. We ended up going to Sonoma and Napa, got to taste wine at Jacuzzi winery, olive oils and vinegars at the same, and then we drove to Napa and magically stumbled into Domina Carneros, a winery owned by Tatinger, makers of some of the finest Champagne in France. We not only got to taste 6 expensive sparkling wines, but we got a tour of the winery and the entire fermenting and bottling process. Nerds wet dream. Learned so much, got a little drunk, and got to talk to Chavaughn, a woman visiting from near Liverpool in the UK. Such a fun talk. Then, we went to Saucalito to eat dinner, home of ALAN WATT'S HOUSE BOAT. Another philosophy nerds wet dream. It was an incredible day with some great people, and I can't wait to have even more fun. We also went to the Golden Gate bridge, of course, and also saw Coite Tower, a monument to San Francisco Fire Fighters at night. The view was breathtaking, as the view from this location in my life is as well. All is good, the world is beautiful, and I'm loving it. Can't wait to see what we do today!
