(Can you guys tell I just got done rewatching this episode of avatar? LOL)
Anyhooo, so for my sporadic post of the month (month, year, lifetime OTL) I thought I would share how to make 3G Sauce. So, if you guys have been to Genghis Grill, you may know that they have a specialty sauce that is AMAZING with...like..everything. So after trying to make stirfry and such with different sauces, I sat in a distraught slump trying to find something...some taste that I couldn’t find. And then I realized. 3G sauce. It’s savory, it’s sweet, it’s spicy. It makes all meat taste good.
But its not like they sell 3G sauce at like Walmart or something...or even at Genghis for that matter (I think). So you know what? Let’s learn to make it from scratch.
So the following steps I got off of this wonderful site: http://www.copycatrecipeguide.com/How_to_Make_Genghis_Grill_3G_Sauce
Some materials you will need for this recipe are:
-a large bowl, measuring cups, measuring spoons (which I just called measuring cups until now...whoops (same but not so same diff)), a whisk, and some foil.
these are the ingredients (from http://www.genghisgrill.com/files/InsideBrochure.pdf also referenced on the above website) :
2 tsp. crushed red pepper
So I understand this is a wide array of ingredients, but they are TOTALLY worth buying (plus you’ll need some of these for some other recipes I’ll share with you guys in the future ;) ) Your kitchen will look something like this..yep..messy:
So peach puree is a bit hard to find if you don’t make it yourself, but you can buy gerber’s peach and it LITERALLY is peach puree...no shame...I totally used it. I’ve also found that if you can find a pack of blended apple, peach, and apricot it’s also REALLY good...I used to buy a buddyfruits pack to use in this recipe. Make sure to avoid gerber’s food with yogurt, though! I don’t wanna know how that’d go down! The question is what to do with it afterward...
(sorry I couldn’t find a clear, smaller picture =.=;;;)
Anyways, now that you have all your ingredients, its time for some chemistry...alchemy...it’s time to mix it all together =P
First, you pour 1/2 cup of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice (be prepared to open those lemon juice containers that look like lemons with a pin!), 1/4 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of sesame seed oil, and 1 cup of corn syrup into the big bowl. Then mix it all up with a whisk until it’s mixed evenly (maybe a few minutes of mixing).
Then add 1 tablespoon sugar, 1 cup corn syrup, 1/8 cup corn starch, 2 tablespoons peach puree, 1/8 cup garlic, 1/8 teaspoon chili pepper, 1/8 teaspoon black pepper, 1/4 teaspoon paprika, 2 teaspoons of crushed red pepper and 1 teaspoon of ginger to the mix. Mix by whisking for at least 5 minutes.
Stick some foil on top of that sucker and stick it in the fridge overnight. Then the next day pull it out if your gonna use it and voila: 3G sauce =D! (I, in no way, claim this recipe. It belongs to Genghis and the steps to the wonderful person who made the copycat recipe site listed above--go there for more details!).
By the end of it, your sauce should look something like this:
I’ve made it multiple times now and it’s always tasted great. Check out the website listed above (the copycat site) for tips to make it spicier, milder, sweeter, etc! I’ve done different things with it (and accidentally dumped a LOT of garlic...or ginger...in it) but it’s always turned out scrumptious. It’s a good dipping sauce (I’m assuming) and goes GREAT with noodles (particularly soba! coming soon!). It also is a great alternative to buying store-bought sauce because they usually taste prettyy saltly.
But that’s all for today from me =) Happy cooking/mixing and I hope you all get to make wonderful meals <3
