A Tree Tee by Saul Lyons; Sensual Expressions Show in New Hope.

My friend Saul Lyons brought me this tree t-shirt which goes with a series of paintings he did for the Sensual Expressions show in New Hope, Pennsylvania, where he exhibited along with artists Marianna Fox, Jack-Jack Reid, Jamison Sarteschi, Jason Seder and Runn Shayo.

The show took place at the ‘A’ Space gallery, with the intention of expressing joy in various forms. Saul presented portraits of men titled after names of colors: Yellow represented joy, Magenta pride, and Blue goodness.

Continuing with the color story, Jason Seder exhibited red and white line drawings, while Runn Shayo presented blue watercolors.

Saul displayed a wall of paintings on the subject of masculinity, where a main portrait with a red background represented a sense of confidence. Other paintings surrounding the portrait expressed various aspects of the man’s character.

The t-shirts Saul made as an extension of the universe of his paintings.

The particular one I’m wearing shows a tree which he told me represents a person having gone through a particularly difficult period, seeing the veritable light at the end of the tunnel with a flower in the background.

The show ran from May 6th to the 29th. The photo above of Saul and Runn—who is wearing a shirt customized by Saul—was taken at the opening reception on May 21st. Along with the t-shirt, which was photographed at the Sivananda Yoga Ranch during my recent retreat there with Dominic, Tony, and Van, I was wearing Vinti Andrews Eco Jeans, Anni Shades frames, Patricia Field Crocs and a kerchief given to me by Cotton during Beltane 2013 at SMS.
