@saulweissberg
Her attitude towards charity events followed a fairly predictable course. At first, she was completely disillusioned by the whole idea. Not only was it a gross display of wealth but it was a whole performance. It was hours of pretending to care when in reality, Thalia just wanted to support a cause she cared about. Her sister told her that it was good to get out. So much of her time was spent either at the yoga studio or alone. Kathleen took her the first time and they became tolerable. Never greatly enjoyable but occasionally Thalia didn't regret leaving her elegant apartment. Things became a lot more enjoyable after the Al Smith dinner though.
All that culminated in a confusing rush of feelings as Thalia sat down at her assigned seat. The place-card was in small elegant script reading 'Thalia Clark-Weissberg'. A quick glance next to her showed that a certain 'Saul Weissberg' would be seated next to her. Surely not. What were the chances that he would also go all the way to Denver just for a silly charity event? Especially when he was running for Mr. Popular in her hometown. Thalia wasn't in the business of lying to herself: she did hope that Saul would attend. They ran into each other very briefly after the baseball game and it was significantly less uncomfortable than every time before. There was a good chance that this could be enjoyable. If Saul attended of course.
