“With this new service, Nintendo Switch Online members can enable this new backup system that will automatically upload island and user save data to the internet at certain times. If you were to lose or break your switch, and this was enabled, Nintendo Customer Support would be able to get you back on your island as you last left it.
Furthermore, Nintendo has reminded us that this is separate from the Save Data Cloud functionality offered for other games, so the option to move an island to another Switch that wasn't lost, stolen, or damaged is still not ready. However, later this year, Nintendo will release an update that will allow players to move users and save data to another system.”
