Public Service Announcement:
So, that fic you just read, that fan art you just looked at, those epic wooden Star Trek coasters with the insignias pressed on them...you know, all of that good stuff? Yeah. That. Do that person a favor and reblog.
Even just that tiny little step makes a difference. I get it, making comments is hard. You don’t know what to say. How to relay your feelings. That’s fine. A simple: “Read/saw your stuff, it’s awesome, thank you for being you.”
There you go. If that’s not your thing, Kudos works too. In my opinion, there are too many posts floating around here—that I *know* have to be seen—with one or two notes on them. C’mon, people! This is how we lose good content. *Please.*
The one thing that *really* takes the piss, though, is when a ‘fan artist’ (this is what I’m calling us) takes the wind out of another’s sails. Why you gotta be that way? Who cares if you have more followers? We all start from the bottom. Rome wasn’t built in a fucking day.
No one consciously posts something of their own creation that they despise. Find me someone that does. Dare you. Are you shitting me? Hours and hours of work, stress, and ‘Should I even really post that?’. Jesus. You should know! You probably did the same thing thirty minutes back. Remember?
If there’s an error or two? Help someone out. Don’t be a douche about it; offer some genuine advice. This is how we learn and grow. Again, no one is breaking new ground here.
We need to support each other more. There are too many of us slipping through the cracks. Giving up. And, I’m sorry to say, I’m one of them.
Whatever, man. You do you. But, next time you see something original...boost it. That post is a treasure. A gift quite personal in nature. Perhaps this is why it is such a delicate situation? Then, let’s treat it with a little more finesse, yeah?
