Such a big thank you to my lovely friend and colleague, Sheila , for giving me this book as a leaving gift. It has been the inspiration for this trip and we certainly would not have seen what we have without it ..... and there is so much more.
This was going to be the last one but we may do two more tomorrow on the way home. Margate. A bit sad as not very artistic graffiti and dog muck and yet it still stands proud. Come on people of Margate this lighthouse deserves better. Seemed very appropriate to end on this one ( if we do) as this one was built in 1954 ( great year ) and by Dorman Long & Co who were originally based in Middlesbrough. Rollo says I place too much emphasis on these funny connections but hey,as a textile person, it all adds to the tapestry.
Day !!!! Not even sure what day of the week it is anymore.
We have decided to leave the Thames Estuary lighthouses until another trip but did catch this one. Prize for anyone who can find it, enlarge and send back to me ( real prize).
