Filmmaker Akosua Adoma Owusu has launched a campaign to transform the REX Cinema in Accra, Ghana.
The cinema, which was built by Kwame Nkrumah, is dilapidated and in danger of being bought and redeveloped. Owusu is raising money via Kickstarter to transform the REX into an arts hub for artists working across Ghana, the continent, and the diaspora. The aim is to foster a collaborative space, where artists can exhibit, workshop and share their work – a vital part of any creative infrastructure.
