you will never have to beg the right person to love you

if you have to beg

then you are begging the wrong person.

my friend asked me to write a poem about the right person at the wrong time

but truthfully I don’t think the right person comes at the wrong time.

i think they are just the wrong person

because if it was meant to be it would simply just be.

i think we tell ourselves this as a way to cope

it’s better to believe they were the right person, than admit they aren’t mature enough to love you

I hope one day you will find me in a grocery store

I'll have my tattoos

but my hair and perfume

will stay the same

our eyes will lock

while i stand beside an aisle of fruits

your heart sinks to the ground and

i'll lose my voice all over again

we will laugh about how long it's been

and you will apologize for being deceitful

I'll wish you well

and before you're on your way

I'll remind you to not feel guilty

because after all

We were still growing and finding our ways
