Hi! I'm sorry, but for some reason my game in not saving? It says autosave, but when I leave the game and come back it resets! And there aren't a any saves to load from, could you help me?

Have you nerds ever wondered about saving systems for games?

One of the biggest hurdles when transitioning from Ren’Py to Game Maker was that Game Maker didn't have its own built-in save/load system like Ren’Py (Actually, it does, but among other things it doesn't save data structures like lists or grids)... so in short, we were spoiled and subsequently screwed.

Digging through my hard drive, I found my Love Lab screencaps folder and a little proof of concept project I made some time ago to test a very simple yet effective save system.

Saving System

I just worked on the saving system and it works fine now. You can dig, build, and modify all planets you want and everything will be saved in real time.

You will be able to share your universe to your friends by sending your "Universe" folder. 

I don't already know if it works perfectly : I need to do lots of tests about it, or maybe you will be able to test it in the coming soon Pre-Alpha version!

100 Envelope Saving System

So a group of my friends decide to do this 100 envelope saving system and today is the first day, i'm hoping i can make it through the year....Scratch that I'm going to make it a point to fill all my envelopes by November 1, 2012.

I am going to document my progress here cuz i know it's going to get harder as the envelops start to fill.

{Here's how it works:

1. You buy 100 envelopes.

2. You number the front of each envelope 1 through 100

3. You fill each envelope with the corresponding amount of money (For example, envelope 1 you will put 1 dollar in, envelope 2 you will put 2 dollars in, envelope 3 you will put 3 dollars in .... all the way up to envelope #100)

4. Once all of the envelopes are completed you will have $5050 Saved.

We have come up with one effective system (though you can tackle this the best way you know how) but if you fill 8 envelopes a month, by the next year you will have all of the envelopes filled. This is the method I am going to use. We we start on November 1st, so next November 1st we all should have the envelopes completed.

At the end of the year, we want to take the extra 50 dollars (because we will have saved $5050 in total) and do something fun, like a group dinner or exchange gifts (or any other ideas you may have).
