ENEMIES TO LOVERS, LOVERS TO ENEMIES AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN

She can hear them outside, their restless shuffling and exhausted, hollow sounding moans. Normally it would cause her unease, perhaps even panic, but resting, lying naked in Rick’s arms, she only feels safe – no one knows they are here; in this abandoned, dilapidated old cabin, not even the dead, it seems.
Shifting closer, Adelia’s fingers swirl soft shapes in Rick’s chest hair as she watches silver slivers on moonlight shift across his skin. These moments together are so rare, so forbidden that she wants to drink them in with her eyes completely, to commit them to memory in a way that means they will never fade, no matter how long they may be apart. Already she is thinking about the fact the sun will rise soon, and when it does, she will need to return to the Sanctuary, and Rick, back to Alexandria.
His question is an unexpected one and as her gaze gently rises to meet his own, she can’t help but wonder what prompted it; the thought of that awful night in the woods; the night they first met.
“You were too…human.” She admits shyly, her fingertips tangling in her own hair before moving to briefly graze his lips; lips that blush pink, that rosy hue visible even in the dark. “Not simply alive…I mean, your humanity Rick, it shines through you, in everything you do.”
A small sigh; she doesn’t want to leave – one night isn’t enough, it’s never enough. “You told me…told me you were already dead…” She falters a little, not sure if she should continue, if he will think her silly and overly-sentimental. “…but when you look at me Rick, with those impossibly baby blue eyes, I know you aren’t, because no one has ever made me feel so alive.”
