Pimp My Guide! (In the voice of Xzibit) ‘We took this boring plain guide and gave it some magic, it’s time to Pimp My Guide’!! 😆😆 So if you have followed @coupleatools or myself for a while, chances are you would have seen our custom guide rail graphics! I have been asked a lot what guide i use, is it a custom made rail, where to buy etc.. Well, it’s just a vinyl graphic! I know some guys were hoping it was a custom made rail , we can pretend it is! Custom drawn titanium back bone with a unique carbon kevlar weave skin! 🤪 Gus has had these graphics on his rails for a while now, & their a great way to smarten them up and pimp up something that is usually boring! If you want to get your hands on one, then shoot @coupleatools a DM or check out his ebay page! To apply, i first clean the rail with a wipe, make sure it is clean and dry, peel off the backing & lay the vinyl in position on top. Once aligned i work from the middle and get the top section stuck down, working any air bubbles out to the edges, then i cut either side of the middle rail with a sharp blade (get an adult to help)! Held at a 30 degree(ish) angle, this relief cut allows the vinyl to now sit down either side on the lower part of the rail. Same again, i work from the middle out, working any air bubbles out to the edge, using a thin plastic scraper/card, i work the vinyl in tight around the plastic rail strips. Then using a sharp knife again, cut following the strips. Once i have done all of the strips, the best bit! Time to peel off the vinyl you just cut! Then just go over checking for air bubbles & work them out if any, run a knife at a 30 degree angle down the edges/splinter guard sides, being careful not to cut them! And 💥you should then have a pimped rail! 💯 🎯 😎 #guiderail #sawguide #railguide #plungesawrail #customguiderail #vinyl #vinylgraphics #pimpmyguide #pimpmyrail #pimpmyguiderail #doesnthavetobeboring (at Cornwall) https://www.instagram.com/p/B31cSjOgqJk/?igshid=15g80g3lws6k4
How skillful are you with your handtools? I have to admit I'm lacking practice but I have ambitions to be decent at it. I lately got @woodraphic magnetic guides to help me learn. I'm building cart for storing plywood and I thought it would be a good opportunity to practice hand tool skills. Sure I could build it much faster, use screws, but that's not fun! So let's overkill it. #sawguide #magneticguide #practicewoodworking #handtools #letsbuildsomething #weekendproject #unplugged #woodworkinglife #woodworkingisfun (at Alexandria, Virginia) https://www.instagram.com/p/B3kl8j6gIKF/?igshid=17cxgk2nwayyh
I received quite a few message yesterday on this little device that I used for cutting finger joints. It’s the @leevalleytools Right-Angle Saw Guide and is similar to their dovetail saw guide. It has a rare-earth magnet behind the low-friction UHMW pad. Keeps the blade aligned and super simple. I’m not using the clamp that came with it as my workpiece is thicker. Not sponsored, just love it. . . . #leevalley #leevalleytools #veritas #sawguide #handtools #straight #straightandnarrow #rightangle #woodworking #saw #sawblade #soothingsounds (at Sherwood Park, Alberta) https://www.instagram.com/p/BtQ5djXnDDH/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=d3t9rzjzdwmk
