The more I watch, the more frustrated I get with Hwangbo Yeonhwa.She is the worst of all the members of the Goryeo Royal Family.She is everything Royalty was back then, power hungry, greedy, not remorseful, all manners and etiquette and full of scheming plans . She has this ability to justify each of her actions and guilt somebody else into thinking it’s their fault while acting righteously, so nobody would ever suspect her. What I’m trying to say is she perfectly represented the superficiality and double standards of her time. She can commit murders , use and throw away people and still call out someone else for “shamelessly living”. All the nobles who speak highly about the throne and the country, scheme behind everyone’s back for the sake of power while claiming to do it for the nation.What makes her worse is she is so hypocritical, having no emotional attachment or guilt or even the smallest sense of remorse, as she has no qualms in seeking the help of a brother whom she literally schemed against. Even Won showed remorse in the end . Everyone says it’s so sad that she can’t have power because she is a female, but it’s precisely because she is a woman because the fact people never suspect her allows her to get away with a lot . I saw someone saying if she was a man everyone would be scared, but nah. If she was a man she would’ve been viewed as competition and Killed or exiled for her crimes. She’s smart but she is not wise. She says being a princess made her feel empty, but she thinks having more power will make her feel “satisfied”. But as she would realise, it only made her more miserable and empty. But she fills that emptiness with more hatred , jealousy and greed , trapping herself in her own prison.
