It was definitely a rare sight, spotting Kuon in a store that contained dozens of shelves and even more books of all kinds, and for the most part it was true; he was the type that couldn't be bothered by swarms of text all ready to jump out and attack him as soon as he flipped to the first page. However, people underestimate his passion at times. They forget that Kuon is actually a simple boy; if he likes something, he'll devote himself to it and give it his very best. Which was what could be said about the reason for his visit to the Kinokuniya.
How he had come across the show is a mystery, given its apparent 'fame' in Japan, but he had recently started watching Game of Thrones and needless to say, he was hooked. He was attracted by the depth of the world they introduced, and all the turn of events brought Kuon to the edge of his seat. Surely a show as invigorating as Game of Thrones would be equally interesting in book form, no? Surely that would book that wouldn't leave him feeling bored and sleepy. That was what Kuon thought and so, he had set off, determined to get his hands on the book that started it all and to understand for himself why others on the Internet believe that the books are far better than the show that was already so highly regarded to him.
At first Kuon didn't know where to start -- all he ever went to Kinokuniya for were music or guitar books, so he was only familiar with that section -- but after being pointed to the right direction by a kind employee, he spotted the first book in the series and he took the first English copy he saw. Excited by the new venture and absorbed in his own thoughts, he paid no attention to the world around him and as though it was punishment for his oblivious nature, he bumped into another person and the book fell to the ground. It landed on its spine, the book flipped open to a random page with nothing but the small font of English words.
