New Year | Shuuji & Mia
It had been a long few weeks full of schedules, and he knew he could confidently say that the two of them were glad that things had calmed down. They finally had more time for each other that they could spend face to face. They usually texted or messaged each other at least once a day, but they were lucky if they got to see each other in person at least once a week with everything that was going on. It was just after New Year’s, so it was their first “date” of the year. He had been a bit hesitant to go out due to their new found popularity and what the fans would say, but she suggested they take a walk to a park -- it was pretty late, so there wouldn’t be many people around she had promised. So of course he had agreed, finding fun in the somewhat more adventurous things despite his general uneasy and more calm nature.
It was easier for him to hold hands with her now--despite the shyness of his nature. She gave him a new sense of confidence with things like that, moments of intimacy and physical contact. At first he was hesitant, but now he had no problem with it. So, once they were out of the view of other people, Shuuji removed his hand from his coat pocket and reached out to grasp hers as they walked, smiling over at her. “I haven’t been to this park before, it’s really nice.”

1. "I don't know why I cried like that"
Shuuji felt a bit helpless and confused – confused especially. He had no idea why she had just started crying, having a break down out of seemingly nowhere as they were hanging out at her place. Something had seemed a bit off about her that day, but he couldn’t put his finger on it. He was just about to ask her if everything was okay, and that was when she cried.
“Are–what happened, what’s wrong?” He asked, stunned yet with worry flooding through him–especially when she couldn’t really answer him properly without incoherent words. He managed to catch things like “distracted” and “school” and “diagnosed” among her words, but he really couldn’t make sense of them. Instead, he stood up and walked over to where she had started pacing, wrapping his arms around her shaking figure and pulled her in close to him for a tight hug, slowly rubbing her back.
Since he couldn’t offer any words, he figured that the least he could offer was physical comfort for her. Shuuji knew that she liked closeness–especially with him, and he hoped that it could calm her down and comfort her in the least.“I don’t know how I can help, but I’ll offer you strength and support. Whatever you need.” He murmured the words as he held her, allowing her to calm down before pulling back, but only a little bit.
“I don’t know why I cried like that.”
Shuuji brushed a thumb under her eye to help her wipe the stray tears from her face, giving a soft smile before hugging her again, hand rubbing her back. “I don’t either, but it’s okay. I just want to help make you feel better.”
