The problems of our current generation are unlike the problems of just a few decades ago, at least for music producers.  Few will remember the time when there was no place to upload your recent recorded mixes.  Facebook does not allow this and even today the options for DJs are quite limited.  Using a third party application was the best method to store music and have it visible.  However, many of these options lacked the support to keep it alive and kicking.  Many of them shut down, and lost our precious work in the process. Today, there are many options out there; many of them no different from the next.  Our problem is that we have too much choice – which makes it difficult to actually fully learn a program before deciding that it is or isn’t for us.  The simple solution here is to build a system around our short attention spans.  When you remove the annoying notifications and ads, we create something that is once again user friendly and obviously easy to use.  Blend.io looks to fill this gap that SoundCloud and other hosts have created by dumbing down the actual learning process and navigation skill required to use it. http://djworx.com/review-blend-io-producer-collaboration-network/#.U9gVNPldW1A

DJs – is it time to ditch Soundcloud?

The issue behind Soundcloud might be difficult to understand as a DJ or a producer, but from a business standpoint it makes sense.  Why would SoundCloud change their entire layout?  The answer here is simple, it would be for the money.  When they started small, it made sense to have access to basically everything.  For a while it was heavenly.  I had access to other people’s music and could easily see what my friends were up to.  These days, I’ll be lucky if a mix isn’t tagged for having copyrighted material and taken down the next day.  The funny thing is that not every mix that has copyrighted music is being taken down.  There is some sort of bot that searches through music to find bits and pieces of song. What this tells us is that the censoring is simply there to please the masses, and by masses I mean the record companies who have the power to fight music sources such as SoundCloud.  Instead of SC taking the hit from a record label, why not spread that misery down to the actual users who are paying for it?  Perhaps the ad money that is making the real waves here, while the subscriptions are not. http://djworx.com/djs-is-it-time-ditch-soundcloud/
