The messages only served to make Ruby more angry, almost like they were taunting her for being unable to find Liam as quickly as she had hoped. But once the messages stopped she prayed for them to come again, just to let her know that Liam was still alive and waiting for her to get him. The sheriff said that there was nothing more that they could do to help Ruby find her lost friend which made Ruby become more frustrated with the events.
She decided to go for a walk, hoping that the fresh air would be able to clean out her mind and maybe give her an idea of where to find Liam. As she was on her walk she began to smell Liam’s scent, thinking for a moment that it was only her imagination playing tricks on her. As she went along though the scent became stronger, leading Ruby right to Liam’s cold, half alive body.
Ruby cursed silently before screaming his name, rushing to Liam’s side and falling onto the forest floor next to him. “Liam oh my god. I found you, you’re gonna be okay baby.” She immediately called for an ambulance as tears fell down her cheeks and onto Liam’s face. Ruby smiled down at Liam, slowly sliding her fingers along his cheeks as she let out a soft laugh. “It’s Ruby, Li.. I finally found you.. I’m so sorry it took me so long.”
It had been a week since he had blacked out at the club, only to wake up in the dark, clearly drugged, with no idea of where he was. It had taken him a few hours to realize his phone was still in his pocket, at which point he'd began texting Ruby as best as he could while under the influence.
The drugs took too long to wear off as he slowly began making his way through the woods, exposed to the cold weather at night. Soon he was starving and dehydrated. When he finally heard Ruby's voice, he looked up weakly.
"You found me," he said in a whisper, reaching for her and shivering with the cold.
