Based on the commission by the wonderful @nightingale-interactive on Tumblr (the author of Scandal - @nightingale-interactive - and @absentia-if), "I would love to see something where Ivy learns that Alcina has been hurt or is in like a super delicate situation (like there’s been a threat against the White House)."
Note: Alcina is the First Lady in @nightingale-interactive's WIP Scandal.
You have never been good at sitting still.
Growing up in Durham, in that oppressive little house, you've come to associate rooms with entrapment. It didn't matter how you decorated the space, tried to make the space your own - any home you've ever claimed, in moments like these, has always felt like a prison.
So, you walk.
You slip out of your office, and school your face, take the elevators down to one of the many back exits. You swing open the doors and breath in the fresh air, giant lungfuls of it, so deep and so cutting that it makes your lungs ache. You find yourself wandering the Citadel campus, passing by neatly trimmed hedges and quiet ponds - you find yourself going nowhere, because this is how you do it, subsume those feelings inside of you, the sharp, hard feelings that gut you deep inside.
The feeling of your footsteps. The breeze against your cheek. These are the things you focus on - that you have to focus on.
"Sloan."
His voice. Of course - always the caretaker.
You turn, see Peter walking towards you, worry plain on his face. His worry - it hurts you. You don't like to be seen like this.
You don't like to be pitied.
If it were anyone else, you'd let that mask slip back on - the cold one, the one that demands respect, carries the weight of Dr. Sloan. But, his worry is tolerable - just barely. You don't ever want to admit that you need it sometimes, that he will always look out for you just as he has since you first came here - a new attending, still learning the ropes. But, he knows - in that subtle way of his.
"I saw the news," he says, and you ball your fists.
First Lady Alcina Anderson...an unprovoked attack...taken to the hospital in critical condition.
And the camera panning over the scene, lingering on the blood pooling on the pavement.
He steps closer. You close the distance.
You feel his arms wrap around you, you rest your head on his chest. A sob rips out of your throat, and his hand rubs soothing circles on your back.
He doesn't say anything else, and that is fine with you.
"Just one minute," you say, your breath hitching. "I just need one minute."
lmao imagine the Scandal ROs and their Citadel BFF in a scenario where there’s this rumor going around that the Citadel character is dating the Scandal MC (totally not true, ofc) how would the Scandal RO react?? would they confront the Citadel RO? Wish them the best? Challenge them to SABERS AT DAWN 🤣
Christian and Dr. Grey:
Tapping his finger against his desk, Christian could feel the way his nerves were starting to get to him. Of course, he knew that Peter would never do such a thing to him. They may have disconnects at times when it came to communicating properly, but he believes wholeheartedly that they were good friends. That Peter was actually one of his closest friends he had in his life.
The dial tone was finally interrupted by the smooth tone of Doctor Grey.
“Christian?”
The sound of his friends voice causes him to sag. All of his earlier indignation leaving him. “Peter.”
Such a simple statement, laden with years and years of pent up emotion, clearly causes a concerned reaction out of the older man. “Is everything all right?”
For a moment, Christian thinks about asking Peter for an explanation but he also knows his friend well enough to know that he would keep something like this from him. Not when it came to her…
Settling back, an actual smile pulls at Christian’s lips as a soft chuckle falls from them. “I’ve never been better, Peter. How’s Citadel treating you?”
Alcina and Dr. Sloan:
“It’s been too long, darling.”
The statement is followed my a warm smile as Alcina placed a light kiss on the shorter woman’s cheek. Sparkling emerald eyes meeting faintly amused hazel.
Ivy Sloan situates herself in the chair opposite the First Lady as she folds her hands neatly in her lap. The deep red of the dress she decided to wear complementing her fair complexion and auburn hair. Her keen eyes assessing Alcina just as Alcina was doing so to her.
“It has been, Ali,” Ivy begins almost testing the words on her lips. Her brow arching in a silent question that neither were willing to voice. Even though they both knew the root of it. “I’m quite curious as to what prompted this sudden visit.”
Alcina fakes a gasp of outrage. Settling back in her chair with a hand to her chest. “Are you not happy to see me, Ivy?”
“Happy isn’t quite the right word, Alcina.” Hazel eyes turn sharper as her concern for her friend grows. “Now why don’t you actually tell me what’s wrong? Even though I have an inclination on what it may be.”
Shaking her head, a slight smile quirks Alcina’s lips before she stifles it. “Are you dating, Anon?”
An incredulous look is all Alcina gets for a moment before a light laugh erupts from Ivy’s lips. “No, Alcina, I’m not.”
Nodding, Alcina tugs at the corner of her napkin for a moment.
“So how about brunch?”
The Sunshine Squad:
Stevie Wonder- Jean are you dating, Anon?
Sunshine Kid- What!? Of course not, Stephen.
Stevie Wonder- …
Sunshine Kid- …
Stevie Wonder- Are you sure?
Sunshine Kid- I’m pretty positive I’m not dating anyone at the moment, Stevie.
Stevie Wonder- Okay, I believe you. I just wanted to ask because I heard it through the grapevine.
Sunshine Kid- Well, thank you, for asking.
The Dancing Clown- I’m in here too, guys. Why didn’t you ask me?
Stevie Wonder- Because you’re too busy pining over your own best friend to go after mine.
Sunshine Kid- Facts.
The Brooding Squad:
Three sets of eyes stare at one another from various points in the room. No hostility being passed between looks as gazes shift from one to the other.
Finally, gray eyes narrow as Quinn straightens out. “It was foolish to think either of you would go after, Anon, without consulting me first.”
Glancing back down, their eyes furrow in thought before a small smirk quirks their lips.
Looking back up, they can see the makings of hostility beginning to grow within their opponents gazes.
Who would the Citadel ROs hook up with out of the Scandal and Out of the Blue cast?
I have been perceived pt. 1
I'll answer this on which Scandal ROs I can see the Citadel ROs getting into a long-term relationship with.
Scandal (by the lovely @nightingale-interactive):
Eli: Eli's true love will always be the Citadel MC (those two fools lmao), but I can see Eli and Stephen working well as a couple. They're both earnest, well-meaning, and haven't become jaded by their work (medicine and politics, respectively). Unfortunately, both of them are also pretty shit chefs so looks like they'll either be eating a lot of sandwiches or ordering a lot of take-out lmao.
Davy: Davy has a very specific romantic type (as the people in the Citadel Discord know), so I'll just leave it at that ;)
Jean: Definitely Stephen. Just two rays of sunshine, trying to make their way through the world. They'd be so sweet together, you'd get a toothache.
Vic: I think it depends on which version of Vic we're talking about. If it's DLC Vic, then I'd say Stephen. DLC Vic is more playful and more in tune with their feelings than main story Vic, and I think them and Stephen would complement each other nicely. But, if it's main story Vic, then I'd say Christian. Main story Vic, as you'll find out, is a hot mess and I think they'd really need someone who has that kind of dependability and strength that Christian has.
Dr. Grey: This is a complicated one. On one hand, Dr. Grey definitely has a type, and that type is his ex-wife Erika. He likes people who are driven by ambition, who are unapologetic about who they are, and Alcina fits the bill. However, I think Dr. Grey and Alcina would run into the same problem Dr. Grey and Erika had: namely that, besides his kid, Dr. Grey will always put his career first even at the expense of his relationships with others. He lives and breathes medicine (the only way he'd retire is if he were carried out of the hospital in a body bag), and I can see that becoming a point of contention if he and Alcina were in a relationship.
The soft voice pulls Alcina’s focus from her observation. Emerald eyes meeting hazel with slight recognition.
Offering her hand, she inclines her head slightly as the other woman takes it.
“Doctor Sloan.”

Our two leading ladies from Citadel and Scandal—Dr. Ivy Sloan and First Lady Alcina Anderson at a D.C. gala. Thank you so much @nightingale-interactive for commissioning this from @larskukka (I’m honestly still shook). Truly one of the best things I’ve woken up to on my day off. 💕💕💕
A Citadel and Scandal (by the lovely, amazingly talented @nightingale-interactive) crossover. Dr. Grey and Erika (his ex-wife and admin at Citadel) go to Washington, D.C.
*Del is the founder and CEO of Citadel.
Under the cut!
In a private jet. Dr. Grey is reading a book. Erika is sitting across from him, eating breakfast.
Erika: Some things never change.
Grey: What do you mean?
Erika: You’ve always had your head buried in a book, ever since we met in med school.
Grey -annoyed-: Are we taking a walk down memory lane?
Erika: Are you complaining?
Grey: The past is the past—I don’t see why we have to bring it up.
Erika: It was just a comment.
Erika: Is your speech ready?
Grey: More or less.
Erika: Don’t look too excited, now.
Grey: I don’t think that’s possible.
Erika: This is what happens when you become the public face of Citadel. You reap what you sow.
Grey: You know full well that I didn’t choose this.
Erika: What I know full well is that you’re deluded if you think you didn’t want this, at least a little. I know most people think that when Del asks you to jump, you ask how high. But, you chose to jump when Del asked you—you could’ve turned them down.
Grey: And now I have to live with your bitterness forever, it seems like.
Erika: Well, Del didn’t ask me, did they?
A tense silence, broken by the sound of both Dr. Grey and Erika’s cellphone pinging. Both Dr. Grey and Erika look at their phone—and smile. Their kid has sent them a picture of crepes, with the caption: ‘Look what Ivy showed me how to make!’
Erika: At least we can agree on one thing.
Grey: Which is?
Erika: Leaving them with Sloan while we’re gone.
Two days later, a hotel suite in Washington, D.C. Nighttime. Dr. Grey and Erika sitting at a table. Dr. Grey is nursing a beer, Erika a glass of whiskey. Erika is scrolling through her phone. Dr. Grey looks troubled.
Erika: Well, well, well. Look who’s gone viral.
Grey: …Please tell me it’s not as bad as I think it is.
Erika: It’s just as bad as you think it is. NYTimes, Washington Post. You’re also trending on Twitter.
Erika suppresses laughter.
Grey: What is it…
Erika: “Ten Reasons Why Grey Is Daddy. And Him Ripping Senator Campbell A New Asshole is Only One of Them.”
Grey: Please, please tell me you’re joking.
Erika: Absolutely not. I have to admit, your unscripted testimony was far better than what you had prepared. I love it when you get mad.
Grey: …
Erika: Stop sulking. Del’s ecstatic. This is a win, Peter. Some people are even saying you should run for senator.
Grey: No. Honestly, this whole thing is just embarrassing.
Erika: You’re embarrassed you ended up in the national spotlight. Not embarrassed that you said what you said.
Grey: …
Erika: Campbell’s an ass. Just admit it. You enjoyed tearing him to shreds.
Grey: …Fine. I enjoyed it.
Erika: Good boy. You’re a shark, Peter, same as me, same as Del. You’re just more tortured by it.
Grey: And you say that like it’s a bad thing.
Erika: It’s your thing. Not mine, and certainly not Del’s. Your life would be easier, if you weren’t so helplessly noble.
Grey: I disagree.
Erika: And that’s why we’re divorced.
Grey: It’s not going to pass, anyway. What I said…the ones who oppose the bill—they don’t care about any of that.
Erika: Are you suggesting some people enter political office not to meaningfully effect change? The absolute gall.
Grey: Well, power has always been your endgame, hasn’t it?
What about you? Who do you think would get along among the two casts? I absolutely love both of your work and grinned like crazy when I saw you two were mutuals.
In reference to the amazing WIP @nightingale-interactive has created...
Eli and Jean would probably get along the most with Stephen. They just all have that playful, infectious chaos energy lol
I can see Davy and Vic getting along with Quinn. They all take their work very seriously, and I can see them bonding over that.
Dr. Grey would probably get along the most with Christian, just because they're both two ambitious men with similar values who know that power corrupts absolutely and--more importantly--doting fathers.
Dr. Sloan would probably get along the most with Alcina. I can see Dr. Sloan as someone Alcina could let her walls down around, and they'd have many a late-night thoughtful conversation.
Another addition to the Scandael-verse. For the lovely @nightingale-interactive <3
Featuring President Christian Anderson and Del, the CEO and founder of Citadel.
A quiet courtyard. The sound of a door opening, the murmur of noise from the party spilling outside. Christian hesitates—there’s someone else here. The figure turns: it’s Del.
Del: I won’t tell if you don’t.
Christian closes the door behind him, steps into the night. The air is misty from recent rain.
Del: I didn’t know the president could step out of his own party.
Christian: Perks of being the leader of the free world.
Del: Mm, if you say so.
Christian: You know, you made quite a stir showing up dressed like that. You had the old guard clutching their pearls.
Del: I do what I like. And, if I take up their headspace, that’s on them.
Christian: You’re not a fan of the court of public opinion?
Del: They’re hardly the public.
Christian: They are senators and representatives.
Del (mildly): Since when have they ever represented anyone?
Del: In any case, I find suits uninspired.
Christian: And black turtlenecks are more inspired?
Del (small smile): That’s a matter of personal opinion, isn’t it?
Del: So, are we just here to make small talk?
Christian: Are we speaking honestly?
Del: Person to person. Do you think I’m the type of person to blackmail?
Christian: I don’t know you.
Del: And, I don’t know you.
Christian: The risks are greater for me.
Del: Caution is also uninspired.
Christian: I don’t have a good read on you.
Del: Oh?
Christian: You seem to wear many faces.
Del: Tell me more.
Christian: Cool and collected. Charming and debonair. Eccentric and—
Del: With no respect for the codes of convention?
Christian: Stole the words from my mouth.
Del: Isn’t it the same for you? The public president and the private man?
Del: I know you have a lover, by the way.
Christian: …
Del: And, seems like your wife is interested, too.
Del: Believe me, I’m not trying to offend. And, I’m certainly not spying on you. But, maybe when you’re the public president, you should keep the searching gaze across the room to yourself. You can pass that along, by the way, to the First Lady.
Christian: Is this a threat?
Del: No. Again, we’re speaking person to person. I’m not looking to collect favors.
Christian: …
Del: You might not believe me, but there’s nothing you can offer me that I want.
