Kate Tempest's new show 'Brand New Ancients' at Battersea Arts Centre is a MUST see. I went last night. Kate & her 4 musicians have serious talent. With characters and worlds created by words spoken by Kate; a poet, preacher, rapper, woman (how to find just one word that describes her flow?) and music, a soundscape that creates landscapes, characters, events. It captivates, spits you out, takes you into the heart of it. Real life. Real people. Real entertainment. Go see. Www.bac.org.uk

A right Royal flash mob

Big Dance started out as a London thing. As part of the Legacy Trust UK it was launched by the Mayor of London back in 2006 with Arts Council England. What's it all about? DANCE! Pure and simple. Lots of high quality dance events across the capital, in 2010 there were 850 events across London over 9 days. Taking place every two years the next Big Dance runs from 7-15 July 2012. Dance happens all over in London; in shops, parks, galleries, theatres, outdoor spaces. In fact dance is so big that Big Dance has now gone National ... so check them out for how to get involved wherever you are in the UK.

I heard a whispering that something royal and dancey was going down this week ... and I'm not talking about the T Mobile royal wedding dance video on YouTube. Big Dance are at it again and teamed up with the University of East London's 2nd year Dance: Urban Practice students to stage a unique Big Dance Royal Flashmob on 9 May. In addition there were dancers from Creative Academy, Middlesex University, London Contemporary Dance School, Havering Schools, The Turbells and Ulitimate Dance NRG.

Dancing in front of the palace gates and watched by the Queen herself; as well as tourists and passers by; it must have been a buzz for these young dancers. Something they will never forget.
