I'm sure people on this site have talked about it before but MY GOD that ending song for Guardians 3. [I am not talking about the credits, though having Redbone as a bookend for the series made me smile] I didn't expect to hear Florence and the Machine in a James Gunn film, but it worked incredibly well. Like yesssss the dog days really are over, but also WHAT DO YOU MEAN the dog days are over?? 😭 This can't be it, right? I mean it absolutely can be it, and it is, but still. Honestly I'd be content if we never saw the MCU Guardians again and were just left to imagine their adventures. It won't be the same without James Gunn at the helm.
I don't even know where to begin with lyrical analysis but "Leave all your love and your longing behind/You can't carry it with you if you want to survive" hits different when it comes to Rocket knowing what we know now. Like, no, he's not forgetting about Lylla/Teefs/Floor and I doubt he ever will, but they've basically given him permission to move on and heal. To be content with his new family, and to welcome more people into that family. I want to just lie down on the floor and ponder this for a while.
