@scaringan​​         roared         : his closeness to gai is a guilty pleasure, a source of both happiness and fear. while he has certainly derived many positive things from their friendship, the fact of the matter is it’s wrong. kakashi developing an attachment to anyone will not bode well for the person at all in the end, as proven by history. it is his destiny to lead a life of loneliness because he is nothing but a curse. hence, he distances himself from the man who’s at risk of becoming his next victim. “it is in your best interest and my own that we go our separate ways. there’s no need for me to explain, just trust me.”

he  wants  to  beg  kakashi  not  to  leave  ,  he  needs  the  stability  of  their  relationship  ,  especially  after  the  hole  dai’s  death  tore  into  gai’s  heart  .     genma  had  become  more  distant  ,  ibiso  wanted  to  focus  on  his  career  at  the  acadamy  ;  being  with  asuma  and  kurenai  just  made  him  feel  like  a  third  wheel      (         more    than    usual      )      .                  ❝    but    we’re    eternal    rivals    .    ❞

❝    eternal    means    forever    .    ❞           he  should  have  known  better  .      after  kakashi’s  father  ,  after  obito  ,  after  rin  .      AND    NOW    THE    YONDAIME    HOKAGE    .      (      who    was    left    but    gai      )      bandaged  hand  reaches  out  ,  grabs  kakashi’s  wrist  .     with  speed  /  strength  befitting  a  newborn  taijutsu  master  .        his  touch  would  probably  leave  bruises  ,  gai’d  add  it  to  the  list  of  things  he’d  apologize  for  .         as  easy  as  it  was  to  focus  on  himself  ,  be  scared  of  losing  yet  another  pillar  of  normality  .       gai  instead  focuses  on  kakashi  ,  who  was  getting  lost  in  darkness  ,  who  had  nobody  to  rely  to  .          i    have    to    help    him    .           as  if  there  was  ANYTHING  he  could  do  .           even  if  kakashi  wanted  to  ,         expected  his  help  .        all  gai  could  do  is  rage  against  the  inevitable  .                    ❝    i’m    not    scared    of    death    ,    or    the    anbu    .     ❞      no  ,  he’s  scared  of  living  unloved  ,  unable  to  help  anyone  ,  having  to  live  with  surpressed  emotions  .       ❝    i’m    scared    for    you    ,    kakashi    .     ❞

Tsunade knew that one day alcohol would be the bane of her existence. She had always drank, but not as much as one would think, until after he died. During her bouts of immense consumption, she always had really inarticulate ideas, sometimes down right foolish. This night however would be her most foolish idea yet, also extremely dangerous.

She was more inebriated than usual, blame it on the bad weather, or just having an off day. She was in the grave yard, by his grave. The sky would have been blanketed with millions of tiny diamond like stars had it not been for the clouds that filled the sky, no rain just yet. The wind however was a bit strong, whipping her long loose hair around her face as she struggled to lay the paper scroll flat. She was wasted enough it was clumsy actions at best. She finally got a heavy object onto the scroll to keep the top from blowing away, she sat another object on the bottom.

She sat, her legs crossed,her face towards the dark sky, her expression as angry as the weather. She wished this damn wind would die down. She just wanted to see him, one more time.

She laced her shaking hands together, her index fingers pressed together in an upright position. “Tiger” 

She put the index fingers down, lacing them now. “Snake” She didn’t have many hand signs to go.

A granted wish -- is that too much to ask?

Sakura couldn’t count the number of times she wished and prayed to any gods or deities to grant her that one wish her heart yearned for all those years.

Sasuke; an opportunity to take him away from the enemies and bring him back to Konoha.

But it seems all her wishes and prayers fell upon deaf ears, not a single one answered. Sasuke has gained the power he seeks, avenged his clan but still, he keeps sinking further down into his darkness, telling her the chance he will ever return is close to nil.

“ He said he will come back once he becomes powerful. Itachi is dead -- what more does he want?! “ her voice shaking as she speaks, unable to keep the surge of emotions from taking control of her body.

Watching him throwing his life away, burning himself with the raging madness fueling him to push further down the abyss and losing everyone else in the process. A strong feeling of helplessness surrounds her as she could only fear for his future. Even if she casts her feelings for her raven-haired teammate aside, the truth that he is a part of Team 7 remains.

A precious comrade. Someone worthy to be saved and given a second chance. A person she will never grow weary of chasing, if only for a small glimmer of hope she could pull him away from his own peril.

But it seems life is constantly up their tails, ready to foil their plans, change the course of their fate. Years of chasing him always ends up a fruitless endeavour as he has made it apparent he wouldn't want anything to do with them.

Not anymore.

Even if Naruto managed to save her that day, Sakura knows a part of her truly died, witnessing his willingness to use his own hands to end her life -- when all she wants all these years is to save him.

It is a curse to keep on living in the reality where it is made known that the man you love is willing to stain his hand with your blood. And it hurts more, as she is much aware she'll gladly offer her life to him, if that's what it takes to take him out of this darkness.

“ Sensei....I don't know what to do anymore... ”

“ Roger, Sensei. “

It was unusual for Kakashi to have his mind so out of it, as it seems. A shinobi of his calibre should’ve been able to dodge that amateur attack and go on the offensive immediately.

Seeing that he didn’t and sensing he hasn’t completely snapped out of whatever it is occupying his thoughts mid-fighting, Sakura decided to keep a close eye on him without saying much of anything ( for now ), as she walked closer to him.

“ It’s alright, Sensei. You seem tired -- are you sure your body has fully recovered from the previous attack? " a curious glance shifted towards him, as her trained medical eye tries to catch his body’s tell-tale signs of chakra exhaustion.

❝If you insist on constantly wasting my time, it'd be better if you actually show up on time.❞ Patience far worn thin, the young Uchiha had half the mind to leave the Jōnin. Since he already wasted a good chunk of his time actually showing up, he may as well listen to whatever excuse was about to come his way.

It was still early in the day, and she had dropped Naruto off at the academy and had chosen to buy some flowers--white lilies--for her next destination. The wind brushed past her calves of her long skirt, sweep up to her hair with its chilling caress. She fixed her shawl carefully, thinking that she’d have to buy Naruto some warmer clothes soon--perhaps after she picked up up today. She’d been doing well selling some of her calligraphy works and pottery crafts. 

Moving on, the buildings faded to more lush greenery, and after crossing the bridge, she entered the forest and followed the path towards the monument she learned was near the cemetery. It was simple, but beautiful in its design and craft--humble but profound in how tall it was raised. 

What she had not expected was to see was another individual to already be present. She paused for a moment, realizing it was the silver-haired jonin and inclined her head in greeting. So he was visiting the memorial too? She hesitated, not wishing to disturb him but... 

❝ I don’t mean to intrude.. I just wanted to bring these. ❞ She approached the monument, looking over the names engraved into it. Her molten eyes glinted as she narrowed her gaze for a moment until she found the names she was looking for. She traced her fingertips over the etchings of their names. She lowered one flower, murmuring softly, ❝ For my cousin, Kushina Uzamaki... ❞ She then lowered the other, entwining them both with care. ❝ And for Minato Namikaze. ❞ And while she’d never met them, never had the pleasure to know them--she’d hope they’d feel at peace with her watching over Naruto. They’re precious boy. 

She’d like them to know she’d try her best to ensure his happiness--for such heroes who’d given their lives to this village.

fading scars hanging over his cheekbones are what remains of his delirium of grandeur.   body mostly gone back to normal,  his grip on reality  (   and sanity   )  improving steadily.  healing is a steep road and sometimes he stumbles on it,  feet caught in sharp vines,  thoughts locked in a spiral meant to stay in the past.  who are you?  can you even exist on your own?  he doesn’t know,  he wants to try.

❛  all i am asking for is a little bit of faith.  ❜   tone level,  void of any pleading.  kabuto is not so in over his head to ask for forgiveness,  surely not from the hokage himself.  what he is asking for is a place to call home and a purpose to fulfill,  nothing more  —  children in need of a home care little for past wrongdoings,  they latch on to what makes them feel safe.  he should know.

Deeper Sentence Starters

To say her life has been a roller-coaster is an understatement. It seems, whoever is in control of her fate had been pulling the strings in all sorts of direction, keeping her up her toes every minute of her life when there's nothing more she wants but the chance to breathe easy.

The resolve to keep going amidst any form of challenge ingrained into her consciousness from a young age. Her strength and limitations, the things she can and cannot do -- she knows them all. And perhaps, with this much awareness, brought forth a strong will to keep pushing herself to the limits and work harder than anybody else.

Without much thought, it has become her mantra;  relentlessly seek answers while she grits her teeth to keep herself going.

A stark contrast to the words granted upon by Kakashi.
