Thanks for the ask (and the compliment!) I fell asleep last night before I could finish this, but I figured since it’s sleepover weekend, we’re really just hanging out from Friday-Sunday, so it’s probably fine. I have p l e n t y of other Billy headcanons, but it takes a while for my brain to organize them. This is a pretty short list, but I definitely have more, if you’d like to hear them! They just didn’t really fit into this particular set. Also, I didn’t mean to make Billy sound like Moana in these, but that’s kind of what happened. :)
Billy’s always loved the water
The kid basically lived right on the beach for the first decade of his life
Every time he dipped a toe into the sea, he’d pretend he was a mermaid
Of course, as soon as Neil found out about that, he put a stop to it
“Mermaids are for girls,” he’d shouted at his son. “You may be a sissy, but you’re not a girl”
That event ended Billy’s passion for role playing as mystical creatures
But it didn’t affect his adoration of the ocean
He still keeps a jar of sand and seashells under his bed
Billy needs a piece of the beach with him wherever he goes
As soon as he turns eighteen, however, he’ll move back to California and return the sand and shells to their original home
He can’t wait for that day
But there’s also a small part of him that dreads it
Because although he’ll finally be free from his father
Max will still be trapped in that house
And even though Neil’s never laid a hand on his stepdaughter before
Billy’s not naive enough to believe he never will
He’s definitely conflicted
But the ocean calls him
And if Billy ever wants to be truly happy, he’ll have to answer that call
