Hello, I'm not sure if I'm going to do this right, but I have been self-conscious over my outward appearance to people lately. People say I'm dark and scary, but I try not to be. So I tried smiling more, since I don't show alot of emotion on my face. A lot of reactions were that I was being weird and scary that I was smiling. I'm a little hurt by their reactions and I don't know if I should just stop trying to change how I appear. Could I have Yamaguchi and Kuro's advice for their S/O? >~<

Hi, sweetheart. You shouldn’t have to change the way you appear for anyone but yourself. Anyone who takes the time to get to know you won’t see you as dark or scary. Just keep on being you, and don’t listen to the people who won’t bother to look beyond your expression. There’s so much more to you than just that. -Kristin

“It happened again.” Such a dejected look had passed over his s/o’s face that Yamaguchi quickly reached for their hand. “I just keep scaring people away, but I'm not trying to be scary. I don’t know what to do!”“You’re not scary.” He was quick to assure, giving their hand a squeeze. “Not to me. Anyone who thinks that obviously hasn’t taken the time to get to know you, because you couldn’t possibly be scary.” He pressed a kiss to their temple, and they leaned tiredly against him.“But I am to them.” They groaned, frustrated. “Even when I try to smile it freaks people out.”He slipped his arm around their shoulders. “It’s because you’re trying too hard, and you shouldn’t have to. Not for them. I’ve seen your real smile, and it’s anything but scary. Maybe if they took the time to get to know you they’d get to see it too. Anyone who can’t take the time to look past your appearance to see the person inside isn’t worth your time or worry, anyway.” He concluded, resting his cheek on top of their head. “Don’t try to be anyone but you.”

Kuroo tried unsuccessfully to choke back a burst of laughter at his s/o’s expression. “It’s not funny!” They wailed. “It’s hard trying to keep my face from looking so scary all the time.”He sobered, steadying them with his hands on their shoulders. “Who told you that you look scary anyway?”“Everyone.” They huffed. “And it only gets worse when I try to smile. It’s hopeless. I don’t know why I bother.”“Then don’t.” He said firmly. “You shouldn’t have to try to smile for anyone, got it? You know it’s not gonna come out right because forced smiles never do. I much prefer your real one anyway.” At his words, the corners of their mouth lifted slightly. “Like that.” He grinned, lightly pressing his fingertip to the tip of their nose and causing their grin to widen. “I almost want to keep it for myself.” He pressed a light kiss to their lips before continuing. “Listen. Everyone who knows you knows you’re not really dark or scary. And everyone who doesn’t? Well they’re just not worth your time. There’s nothing wrong with your normal expression, so don’t listen to anyone who tries to say otherwise.”
