Twilight?!?
That's my 'Garrus is the monsterfucker' fic.
"
"She's still not ready." It was an urgent whisper, the kind that Garrus had learned to listen for back in his C-Sec days. He had been walking to the bathroom but instead he diverted and stood by the pantry. As he idly dragged his talon along tubes of dextro protein paste, he listened to the humans down the hall.
"She's up, she's fighting." Miranda, based on the twang of the voice. No doubt of who she was talking about. "That's all we need."
"She's not right." Jacob. Garrus winced at his words. "She doesn't talk to anyone, she doesn't rest. I've never seen her eat.She got shot yesterday and she didn't even fucking react. How much of it is even really her?"
It. Her.
"She's enough of her. It's not your job to think about it."
Garrus conspicuously slid one of the tubes of paste into his armor and walked down the hall.
What did they mean? What had they done?
He turned the corner and nearly jumped. Glowing eyes met his, just inches away. Had they made her taller?
Shepard pressed her finger against her lips. Not a turian gesture, but he could always understand Jane Shepard. Quiet. If she was upset at the conversation they had both been listening in on, she didn't show it. He nodded and slipped away to the bathroom. By the time he was out, she was gone."
WIP Wednesday
“Garrus."
He hadn't heard her come in. He never did these days. At least he'd stopped jumping when she announced herself. A quick tap to save his progress before he turned around.
There was the flash.
His hide shifted and he pressed his talons into his wrists. He felt the puncture of hide and smelled the metal of blood. Shepard tilted her head.
Finally, words came to him. "Shepard. Need me for something?”
She looked around the battery. Her gaze touched every surface. Garrus felt it move across his habitat like she was looking at the surfaces of his body instead. "Nothing in particular. Is it okay if I hang out in here for a while?"
She had always visited, but never for long. He touched the edge of his console with a hand behind his back to ground himself. "Yes. Yeah, of course."
"Thank you." She sank down against the wall, until she was settled under EDI's hologram. He waited for her to pull out a datapad or start tapping on her omni-tool, or perhaps even make the overture toward a conversation. She did none of those. Instead, she let her head fall back and she closed her eyes.
She didn't make a noise, but Garrus didn't think she'd fallen asleep. Or if she had, it wasn't sleep in a way that he could recognize. As he tried to distract himself with firing algorithms, he felt . . . perceived. It had been a long, long time since turians had been someone's prey, but those instincts were still there. Run, leave, go while you still can.
He stayed, and so did she; at least for another few hours. When she finally rose, she did so with a sigh. "Thanks for letting me hide out. It's . . . weird, here."
You're telling me. "Any time, Shepard."
Flash.
Shiver.
Then she was gone.
9, scary shep
He set the datapad on the desk at his side and then pulled her against his keel. Her arms snaked around his waist almost immediately, pullling him tight. Her mouth landed on his and his subvocals yelled his surprise. But she pulled herself away so quickly that he could barely catch the iron that lingered on her lips.
"That was so - Garrus, I'm-" Shepard stood in front of him, seven feet tall and cowering like she had done something wrong. He couldn't let that stand.
He reached over and pulled her back to him. She met his mouth again in the middle, but didn't stop there. Their momentum carried him backward, until he was nearly doubled over backward against his console. Even then he felt her wrap her thigh over his hip spur as though she was dedicated to occupying the same physical space as him. He let his hips buck up at the friction and he was rewarded by the hum of a low moan against his mouth.
Garrus had never kissed an unplated mouth before. He had always thought the act looked like the parties involved were trying to eat each other. As Shepard slipped her tongue into his mouth, he thought that maybe being devoured by her wouldn't be so bad.
I'm starting seeing her in your tags and I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SCARY SHEP
Ahhhhhhhh an excuse to talk about Scary Shepard!
So sometime last year, I believe @themaniacisinthemailbox was talking about how in Shakarian, Garrus is the monster fucker based on galactic standards of beauty. And I read that and decided to turn that dial up to 100% (and then forgot about it for a few months).
Scary Shepard is kind of a mix of like 'shadow daddy' dark romance men, zombie and vampire tropes, and Frankenstein. In her universe, Project Lazarus was a lot more invasive and a lot more brutal. They had to make her a lot taller to accommodate the new cyber implants (and she was already 190cm before that). She always smells like meat and a hot computer. Her eyes have the orange glow of her Cerberus implants, but Garrus is certain that there's another flash of . . . something else when she looks directly at him.
Does all of this make Garrus Bella Swan? Yeah, kind of. I'm sure he'll look great in his ankle length khaki skirt.
You can read the WIP pieces I've posted of her universe here and here.
curious readers wanna know: what does scary shep look like? Default shep as a base with bad cerberus adjustments, or more of a frankenstein thing (black hair, upsettingly white teeth) going on?
Okay, thank god I made my paper doll blank Shepard a while ago:
Even though I mostly play paragon, she’s got some remnant of her Lazarus scars forever. But when she gets new wounds, they heal relatively well. She’s got good blood flow and kind of a pink undertone.
Now, scary Shepard:
(Ignore her modesty outfit, I don’t want to be obliterated by tumblr’s censors)
She’s a lot more pallid, and she usually has some kind of discoloration, similar to bruising. If she doesn’t moisturize/use chapstick, her skin gets especially dry and peely. When she gets new injuries, they’ll close up with medigel but they’ll never really return to the same tone as the rest of her skin. The cyber-orange is a lot more prominent in her eyes and scars. Her irises are reflective.
Other differences not depicted here:
Her hair does grow, but about half of it is white and dry as hell. She finds this annoying, because it doesn’t hold dye like the rest of it and after a few washes it gets patchy.
She smells like hot circuitry and raw meat (not rotten, but that kind of almost sweet stink you get from an uncooked steak.)
She’s about a foot taller than she was in her first life.
Like @ale-tie ‘s Alice, her scars expand and contract when she breathes.
14 please I'm in a MOOD today. 👀 Scary Shep would be interesting, but your choice, my dear!
A bit late but I hope it delivers!
When he came up to her cabin and the doors slid open, she was only lit by the fishtank. Her skin was already so pale that the water's reflection turned her face blue. Her lips were always chapped, but now they were peeling and cracked as though she hadn't had water in days. Garrus wondered if this was what she looked like in Alchera's orbit. He took his seat next to her on the leather couch and she didn't respond with words, but with the weight of her body slumped against his.
"That bad?" Not the most tactful way he could have started the conversation. He winced.
His lack of decorum didn't seem to phase her. "Yeah."
"Do you want to talk about it?"
"Not yet. But, Garrus-" She turned to face him now. "I don't think they'll believe me this time."
He considered her words. For all the love he held for her, for all the time he had spent rediscovering the facets of her humanity, even he had to admit this was going to look bad. There weren't words in his language to comfort this kind of sorrow. He doubted hers covered it, either.
Instead of scrambling for words, he let his crest find her forehead. She rolled into the movement, well-familiar with it by this point. Once her lips met his mouth, she lingered. She was slow and gentle, but her hand landed on his leg like she was trying to keep him from floating away.
Garrus knew this shouldn't have been her priority. She should have been contacting a JAG, applying medigel to the burns on her arms, sitting under Chakwas' watchful eye with a drip in her arm. But he felt the way her fingers pressed into his thigh and it was like the urgency transferred from her body to his. He deepened the kiss as he began to tug at her shirt, and tried to ignore the feeling that a timer had started.
Garrus tried to make her smile as often as he could, and when he fell asleep, he dreamt of red.
@garfbin this wedged into my brain like a splinter
