May 20: “Don’t be afraid of new beginnings. Don’t shy away from new people, new energy, new surroundings. Embrace new chances at happiness.” - Billy Chapata . I will be the first to admit that I’m a little weird. Always a little bit different from those surrounding me. But I think that in the best way possible. I haven’t always felt that way and still feel like an outlier at times. The difference between now and about a year ago: I’m better at being imperfectly me. I’m better at embracing my weird and attempting to share that with people I trust and love. And even those I don’t. Small talk has never been a huge skill of mine, even now I’d rather get to know what make a person who they are. What trials, what joys, what makes them feel true happiness. As if I could be the one to give it to them.. Meeting new people professionally, I can do. Meeting new people socially…..was never my forte. #lesson20 however, let me see that no matter how many butterflies I felt or breaths I had to take, meeting someone new was always an experience I wouldn’t ever trade for the lack of anxiousness. I also figured out sarcasm is my clear go to haha. Eventually, I’ll get the hang of this whole interaction thing; maybe with practice, maybe with time.
