Hello, a friend and I are collaborating on making a Gift From the Princess Who Brought Sleep music video. May we use your translations? You will be properly credited in the video and in the description of the video. Thank you for taking the time to consider our request!
Yeah, that would be okay.
May I have some Byron Arclight fashion hcs? Thank you!
I hope this is along the lines of what you’re looking for!!
It seems like the entire formal medieval-wear aesthetic came out of nowhere, but Byron has dressed like that since he started getting consistent paychecks and his parents couldn’t stop him. He doesn’t even have much of an explanation if questioned about it— he thought the coat would be cool and it spiralled from there. Also he has 20/20 vision, he doesn’t need that monocle at all, he’s just dedicated to his #aesthetic.
He’s never really kept up with trends; while he was in school, although he could definitely afford the kinds of things that were popular, he preferred comfort over style. Spending late nights in the lab to finish a somewhat-dangerous project? Cheap jeans that he can afford to set on fire. Habit of passing out as soon as he’s home? Comfortable shirts, no buttons or zippers that’ll stab him in his sleep.
Byron’s a naturally warm man, so he prefers lighter fabrics in general, to keep him from overheating— that’s also how he can get away with wearing his stupidly fancy outfit, because it’s not nearly as heavy as it looks. Even in the dead of winter, he’s incredibly uncomfortable in things like wool. His current jacket is probably something like a mix of linen and silk— lightweight, without looking cheap.
Naturally, he had his son’s outfits tailor-made to match his own; when the boys were kids, their clothes were designed specifically to be adorable, but as they’ve gotten older, he’s made sure to allow for their personalities. Thomas’s coat is so long because he used to run around the house with capes to be dramatic; Michael’s coat is short because he’s always been uncomfortable with excess fabric; Christopher’s clothes are the softest because he inherited his father’s tendency to fall asleep at his desk.
Once I told my brother that Michael was like a pink starburst because pink starbursts were the worst. Then I told him about our exchange and he said, "You idiot, everyone likes pink starbursts! You traded away the best one! It’s the yellow one that everyone hates!" In all honesty though I haven’t had starburst for more than a year until today. I then told him how I liked orange starbursts and he was disgusted. "Orange starbursts are only a small step above yellow starbursts." I got poor taste
your a monster and should be shunned among the mighty..
but for real the worst ones are the red ones, i gobble up the pinks and oranges (best) and yellows, but keep those red ones out of the pool.
like the arclights, i have major trust them bc we used to buy them in bulk like 50 packages at at time and open them all to dump into a candy bowl. some ASShole got the tropical flavors and mixed them into the pile and since the original and tropical flavors were the SAME COLORS every time its like russian roulette Is this this a delicious lemon or a nastyass pina colorado??????
Random hcs for Byron Arclight please? Thank you!
I will die for the entire Arclight family, thanks for coming to my ted talk. This ended up pretty family-centric, so I hope these are okay anyways!
Before the events of the series proper, Byron wasn’t much of a duelist; if anything, a young Christopher picked the game up first, and Byron learned it from him in order to be a cool dad. His love for Duel Monsters blossomed from being able to play with his sons; he wasn’t very gifted, though, and even a young Michael could get the upper hand on occasion.
Family bonding time has always been things like telling stories. He loves reading books to his sons while they’re young, but Thomas is always arguing about what to read, so eventually they forego books entirely and start making up their own crazy tales. When he lets the boys tell their own stories, it always ends up being something about a space princess with a wild collection of swords—
He’s the type to preach about make sure you’re eating consistent, balanced meals and remember to take breaks from screens to rest your eyes— but he can’t adhere to his own advice. He’s constantly so caught up in his research, he’ll forget to eat, and he spends all night staring at screens. He drinks tea all through the day and then starts chugging energy shots as soon as the sun sets.
While I’m thinking about food— Byron can’t cook. Like, at all. He tries his best, but he’s hopeless in the kitchen; he can make breakfast foods, but that’s about it. The boys ended up learning to cook purely because their father couldn’t. He is banned from helping them in the kitchen.
Although it’s never stated outright, it’s apparent that he lost his wife while the boys were young. He tries his best not to dwell on it, and instead of raising his children in sadness that their mother is gone, he prefers reminding them of all the nice things about her. Whenever he pulls out the family photo album, he goes over cute or funny stories from when they were dating and engaged, and he tries to keep some of her smaller traditions alive. Once each of his sons hits a certain age, he intends to gift them each something unique that belonged to their mother.
Behind closed doors, though, he is still grieving, even years after his wife is gone. He never got rid of any of her belongings; instead of packing things away, he simply moved out of their shared bedroom and into another spare room in the house, because lord knows the Arclights have plenty of space. A small way he keeps his wife with him is by incorporating some of her ribbons into his daily wear, be it braiding them into his hair or wearing longer ones as a tie.
I firmly believe that, had the incident with Faker not happened, Byron’s relationship with Thomas wouldn’t have been nearly as strained. Even though Thomas is reckless and rebellious and had to be kept on a child leash longer than his brothers, Byron has always valued communication; he would’ve loved to properly father his children through the hell that is adolescence. If he’d been able to talk with and understand Thomas, they would’ve been much closer.
I’ve been thinking about this for awhile and now that I have an audience I’m gonna say it. Y’know how at the end of Zexal they literally just rewrote reality? They had to, if Kite is alive again, bc his death wasn’t card game magic, he just suffocated on the moon. So if reality was redone,,,,, why did Byron stay small. He had to’ve specifically requested that. I do not have an explanation for this.
You did a wonderful job the first time with Byron! Thank you very much! For this one, may I present this scenario: Byron is invited to be the best man at the wedding of the person he had loved for a very long time (But he never confessed). What happens? Please and thank you!
Sorry for the wait on this!! I hope it’s okay!
Byron Arclight is a generally patient man. He always has been— his chosen line of work requires it, so he’s learned not to rush into things. However, that’s led to him becoming somewhat passive nowadays. He takes things at his own slow pace— and it wasn’t until he received the wedding invitation did he ever consider he might be too late.
He’s definitely upset; he tries to convince himself that he’s only sad that he never noticed they were dating anyone, but deep down, a small part of him acknowledges his own feelings for his friend. Maybe he’d buried it because he was nervous, or maybe it was because he’d assumed he had plenty of time— either way, there’s nothing he can do now.
Under normal circumstances, Byron would retreat into himself to deal with his feelings, not wanting to burden the person he loves with his own negativity. But since he’s been asked to act as best man, he puts on his best smile, intent on enjoying his last few intimate moments with them. He’d bury both his affection and his sadness, telling himself he’ll acknowledge it later— that’s a lie, he’ll ignore his own feeling as long as he can.
Despite his somewhat lax nature, Byron pays good attention to detail— and he’s also a total workaholic, so he throws himself into helping his friend however they need. Even though he’s never gotten to admit his own feelings to them, he’s still honored that they hold him so close to their heart; he loves the way they grin at him when he arrives with different flower arrangements, or how they confide their anxieties about the upcoming wedding, seeking his advice. It hurts his heart to remember that he’s not going to be the groom, but he doesn’t want that sadness to affect what’s supposed to be the best day of his friend’s life.
On the actual wedding day, even though he smiles and congratulates the couple and stands tall at his friend’s side, it’s obvious that Byron is distant and not feeling well. His frustration with himself comes bubbling back up— he’s angry and guilty that he can’t be entirely happy for them, and he hates the fact that he’s jealous. He can’t keep his eyes directly on the ceremony, because all he can picture is himself standing as the groom, finally able to be with the one person he loves most— his mind wanders to what his family could have looked like with them, and he’s glad that tears are acceptable at weddings, because he might have to shed a few.
Much like his deck, all we know is that he likes space and science. Is probably also a Star Wars nerd with his sun vorer.
Wonderful!
A little collage to represent our wonderful mystery man
