Scenario JayRoy we nearly died.

Did Roy know?

The fight was over. And maybe they both came a little closer to death than was ideal, but they both made it out and that's what mattered.

Jason pushed himself upright from the smoking ground, looking around for any flash of red that would mean- and then Roy was dropping down in front of him and immediately falling to his knees.

"Jesus Jaybird, way to give a man a heart attack," Roy laughed, pulling Jason into a tight hug.

Did he know?

Jason held him back because he couldn't help it. Didn't say a thing because only true things would fall out of his mouth right then and Roy didn't need that.

Roy's cheek was pressed against his, the drag of his stubble strange and wonderfully real. The touch of his mouth against the sensitive skin near his ear almost definitely just a product of the embrace and not anything intentional.

Did Roy know? How much he meant to him? What it would cost Jason to lose him?

Did Roy know if Jason turned his head just a bit, that their mouths would touch? Did he know Jason wanted that so much it was like a wound in his chest? Did he know he could have Jason any way he wanted him right then and there if he just reached out to take?

Probably not. And he couldn't know or Jason wouldn't get to hold him like that.

"Jaybird," Roy said, breath tickling his ear.

So Jason just clutched him back.
