A Very Honest Travel Tip
First of all, I would like to make it clear that there is no right way to travel. While on your journey, you do what you want to do! That’s the point. With this in mind, here’s my piece of advice.
Do not waste time at Museums
The truth is most people don’t care about a couple of paintings and sculptures made years ago by someone they aren’t familiar with. So don’t waste your time if you are one of those people. At the end of the day you probably won’t remember who painted what or the significance of the piece of art. Stopping at museums is like going to a historic sight just because its “historic”. Though I personally stress the importance of art and history, if you personally don’t then why go? Neither are good justifications of your money nor your time if you don’t really care about being there.
For one, most people travel to experience a different culture and discover an unfamiliar part of the world. You can do that by roaming around and losing yourself in the streets, by eating a meal at small cafe, of by simply talking the people who live there. So don’t feel like you’re not taking advantage of your time when somewhere new because you are not doing what you are “suppose to do.” You are probably taking a lot more home from your experience than those people who make their duty to brag about well traveled they are!
Basically, this tip doesn’t really lie on the fact that you shouldn’t go to museums but that you are doing what YOU want to do, not what the travel guide or tourist pamphlet says.
