When Equipment Kills Out, Compensate Late-ly

Myra X DJs at UC Berkeley’s student and community run radio station KALX. She’ll be posting short recaps, head-shakingly off-center banter, and all-her-fun-band set lists once, twice, or thrice a month (more or less).

  True Story: Five minutes before go time, my playlist editing source (computer) died. I prefer to work digitally; less bulk, quicker mixing. I apparently don't prefer technical difficulties, because my reaction to the fuse on my computer burning out was a sordid mix of silence+ever-widening-eyes and something of the seven words you're no-allowed to publicly air for mega fine's sake (Like $35,000 mega). I would have had my files all backed up on my external drive if that wasn't resting in peace too (If you buy cheap, you're gonna have a bad time etc.) Needless to say it's time to simmer down on the foolhardy living and invest in decent-er equipment--the kind students can't really afford but sort of can. So after a few alright/whatever breaths, and a pointers jam with DJ Hailstorm, the heavens of intention relented. And with no minutes to spare, and still getting to know the what's-there and whereabouts of the extensive, all-hard-copy collection of tunes glowing hol-il-ly in our library catalog, here's the spazzy, experimentalist, beat-heavy, and sporadic entertainment mustered on a whim:
