the infrastructure problem in the US is downright terrifying.
today i got a robocall from the local school district announcing that some kids would have up to 15 minutes added to their bus routes starting next week because a bridge in town has been labeled unsafe and is now closed to buses, semis, and other heavy vehicles. said bridge is right next to the middle school.
they were planning on replacing the bridge in 5 years, and they can’t move the date up any because they are short on grant money and the cost of replacing the bridge is 5-6 million dollars.
