Well, tonight a movie set in the 1950ies but made in the 1970ies: The Lords of Flatbush from 1974! Cast: Sylvester Stallone - Stanley Rosiello Henry Winkler - Butchey Weinstein Perry King - David 'Chico' Tyrell Paul Mace - Wimpy Murgalo Susan Blakely - Jane Bradshaw and many more 

Story: A group of four young men form a gang, enjoying their free time together. Yet for Stanley and Chico there's more behind a romance. Stanley got his girl pregnant and well, he's kinda slowly forced into marrying her. However, Chico finds a girl he's interested in, yet can't say the right words in front of her. Both he and Jane are kinda new into it, and well, as for Jane, Chico needs to grow up. There are some disputs within the group but in the end, they all come together at Stanley's wedding. 

Two interesting facts here: 1) Perry King and Henry Winkler know each other from Yale, having graduated there. 2) Chico should have been played originally by Richard Gere, yet he and Stallone "didn't hit off" as Stallone explained. His role was re-casted and Perry King stepped in. Well, Mr King made three movies in 1975. One I saw already. Foster and Laurie, meaning two are left. 

P.S. The Lords felt a bit like "Grease", but only a bit.

Oh my, today a meanwhile classic: Class of 1984 from 1982. Cast: Perry King - Andrew Norris Merrie Lynn Ross - Diane Norris Timothy van Patten - Peter Stegman Roddy McDowall - Terry Corrigan Michael (J) Fox - Arthur Al Waxman - Detective Stewiski and many more 

Story: Andy Norris, music, comes to a new school, the Lincoln High, where a gang rules and all students have to go to a metallic door. The gang is ruled by Stegman, and some teachers carry guns like Terry Corrigan, biology. The two teachers befriend slowly and soon Andy realizes he's too idealist and all play with him, especially Stegman who plays piano very well but takes drugs and more. The gang fires up Norris' car and kills all Corrigan's animals at school. This gives him the last straw and he uses a gun to teach the students a lesson for life. It works well but he goes after them at night and ends up dead. Meanwhile, Stegman starts his personal vendetta against Norris - with raping his pregnant wife and taking her hostage. Now Andy is on the edge and goes after the gang one by one, killing them - even Stegman, on the showdown on the roof.

Meanwhile I like this movie very much, though it’s scary I started school one year later and back in GDR. Huhu, yet I’m happy to now have found this movie. That’s for sure!
