IT’S SO SHINY... DAR-VEE RUST REMOVAL!
This AvantiPro Quick-Strip Disc was my favorite tool for removing the rust in the bus. Now granted we were blessed and had very little rust damage (only two major spots). But we still wanted the whole floor to be SHINY before we applied anything to help seal it and preventing future rusting. We live in such a moist area that we really wanted to take extra precautions against rust damage. We used our angle grinder and wore down the metal a little so that we got that SHINY feel, then we used Corroseal to convert any rust back into metal! (Yess for the win!), painted it with truck bed liner and prepared to insulate the floor!

This Wire Cup Brush was a close second for removing rust from the floor and really helped the most when the silicon glue from the flooring we just removed was gumming up, spreading and making a mess while we were using the other (Quick-Strip Disc). I will say the wire cup brush was a blast to use for the entry way on the stairs where some black foam material was laid down under each of the old stairs flooring. So satisfying to grind off and make SO SHINYY!
For those of you who don't have young children you may not understand my random burst of song but honestly I could not stop singing SHINY from Moana. Although annoying and thankfully sung in my head the whole time, it was the ultimate motivation and I may not have completed the job so quickly or happily.
(okay now I’m done, I swear)
Reading is important! Something most people overlook these days. Always good to check the label and make sure you have everything you need. Gloves are really important people! Think about it now this stuff converts rust to metal, you really don't want it doing anything like that to your hands! Also be careful for drips! (Pants and legs are not safe!) GASP
While Daddy is reading the instructions I take the opportunity to snap a much needed pregnant belly selfie. I love how much you can see Little Peanuts head. It blows my mind, to think she used to be wiggling and jiggling inside me.
That moment when your so excited to get painting that you almost forget to close the emergency exit hatch that was venting the bus while you painted. Thankfully your arms are much longer than mine are. Thank you Darling :)
And onward with painting
Came back the next day and we are...All dry! Lets admire DAR-VEE before we put the truck bed liner paint down... *pause* It may be super exhausting physically but I just love bringing the bus down to a shell and then building it back up again. The next step is to build the framing for the floor and add our Roxul (stone wool) insulation. We can’t wait for insulation seeing as its been so hot and oh so cold without it! Progress is great as we bake like a big cake! Bye bye oven bus! Until Next Time Peace and Love -Mama Bear
