Young Chef Young Waiter 2024 in Partnership with ADYPU
Just when we thought we had seen it all, Young Chef Young Waiter and Young Mixologist India is back this time in collaboration with Ajeenkya DY Patil University. The competition was launched in January 2024 and YYY India is set to hold its first competition this July, offering the best platform for new talents in the hospitality industry to showcase their skills on a global level.
This esteemed event will take place at the Taj Lands End Hotel in Mumbai on July 29th, 2024, acknowledging the rich heritage and culture of India. The competition aims to support the future of hospitality by guiding young chefs and waiters, promoting local delicacies, and showcasing India’s vibrant hospitality industry.
Identifying and Celebrating Young Talent
YCYWYM India’s goal is to identify and retain the best outstanding young talent in the industry. By celebrating the talent of the best young chefs, waiters, and mixologists, YYY India aims to motivate them to build a successful hospitality career. Open to all young professionals aged 28 years or below from any background, this competition promises to show the brightest talents in the industry.
The finalists are then selected by a panel of judges from a list of entries submitted through an online application platform. The applicants are needed to answer a series of questions and submit a video of themselves showing their skills. The finalists of the YYY India are as follows:

Young Chef Young Waiter was formed in 1979 and operated in England for 42 years. Over the past few years, the competition has evolved globally and is now in its 45th year and the 3rd year of going global. The way the competition continues to grow, it provides greater opportunities for young people in the hospitality industry, strengthening international collaboration and providing an international platform for professional development.
The Young Chef Young Waiter contest is being supported by the Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India as well as the National Restaurant Association of India. The contest aims to promote hospitality as a career of choice and a profession.

With its new updated format, Young Chef Young Waiter continues to honor the next culinary and service stars globally. With the latest format, YCYW continues the provide the platform for the next hospitality stars globally. In partnership with Young Chef Young Waiter, the Great Campaign UK, and Northern Ireland, and the Culinary Institute of America, aims to find the best young talents in the industry. The competition is open to young chefs, waiters, and mixologists under the age of 28 from diverse backgrounds, making sure these young talents are provided with the latest knowledge and network to help them succeed in the world of hospitality.
Judging Panel
The judges for the online process are Mario Perera, Executive Chef at the Dorchester, Atul Kochar, Chef and Restaurateur, and Cyrus Tadiwala — Chef Owner of Cafe Spice Namaste.
During the India finals, the panel of judges will choose 1 chef, 1 waiter, and 1 mixologist after they participate in a series of challenges. These individuals will be titled YYY India after participating in various challenges. Following their achievement, the India winners will move on to Singapore for the World Young Chef Young Waiter and Young Mixologist World Finals, where they will proudly represent India and compete nationwide with winners from 11 other countries. The winning team will be awarded with a grand prize of $15,000.
