School supply shopping with these nigs... #WalMart #broke #schoolsupplyshopping (at Walmart Supercenter)
What if I can't read Dutch?
I have seen and handled mounds and mounds of paperwork on both sides of this move. Back in the US we had to get copies of medical records (human and dogs), birth certificates, marriage license, passports, school records, and many other necessary files. We have 1 accordion file for those and another entire file for Jack and his Developmental information (IEPs, Dr evaluations, test results, teacher letters, and the list goes on) which I can read because they are in English.
When we registered with Immigration here they sent us mail in Dutch, I gathered with the children's names on the envelopes and the word vaccines they wanted copies of the kids vaccine records. Easy enough so that's handled.
As I opened up the banking file we received yesterday I noticed that it is in Dutch and many of the words don't translate via Google. Finally progress when I figured out which was our account number so we can wire money over, but no routing number. I am wondering if we call will we be told we have to wait for the three letters in the mail? I suppose there is only one way to find out.
Before the rain started we took Otis to a boarding facility outside of town (about 5 miles one way on bike) and dropped him off. Originally we were scheduled to go to Belgium for a few days but with so much paperwork to weed through we aren't sure we will end up going, but having him gone for a few days lightens the load in case we do want to leave on a whim. We noticed as we got back onto our bikes that they had a dog van so Brent went back in and Otis is being dropped off on Saturday afternoon. Of course the paperwork we signed we couldn't read.
On the way back home for lunch we stopped at HEMA (think tiny Target) so we could begin school supply shopping. What a limited supply they had. The labels for notebooks, pads, and pens are all different so it took quite some time to figure that out for the kids. When we thought we had it all under control Brent would say "I think I found it over here." and we'd have to empty things out and put new items in. The most frustrating part was the conversation the guys would try and have with me as I was reading 3 separate pieces of paper with supplies for 3 grades and trying to look around at the same time while simultaneously counting what I had in hand and in 2 different baskets (one for the littles and one for Ben). It got to the point where I had to stop everything and say "I love you and I know you're trying to help but it's really confusing for me to have a conversation or fully listen when I am doing this. Can it wait?" Being honest nipped it in the bud, I was then left in quiet to organize. I got the littles squared away and nearly halfway through with Ben's supplies when I was told it started to rain so we had to leave. I'm hopeful that the second run will seem easier, probably because I'll plan on going alone.
Who has their first day of school today??? Hope it was a great one!!! #backtoschool #firstdayoutfit #number2pencil #looseleaf #homework #schoolsupplyshopping #getinthemix @shopmixology (at www.ShopMixology.com💋)
