Second Week...
Hi Y’all. Well, week 2 of not buying anything new... It’s been a bloody busy one, but those of you who know me well know that that’s how I like it :)
There have been some challenges this week- Namely that I realised my back bicycle tyre is totally bald and has holes in it... No wonder cycling of late has been an uphill struggle!
I use Schwalbe Marathon tyres on my bike, they have Kevlar in them and as such, in the 4 years they’ve been on there, I’ve never had a puncture! (They were new on when I cycled from London to Paris) and come to think of it, 4 years is a bloody good innings for a tyre, especially seeing as I use the bike so much.
My first stop on the search for replacements was to try Ebay and... Bingo! I found a guy who was selling a pair of used Marathons and I snapped them up for £10.60. That saved me £40(they retail at £25 each), plus the guy selling them gets some money back, so I’ve saved them from landfill AND haven’t created demand for production of new ‘stuff’. Win win win win win win win!
So now I can pop these badboys on (they are a pain in the ass to get on, but once they are, they reign supreme!) and get back on my bike. I’ve been tubing it to work for the last week, as my trusty steed has been out of action, and the £12 a day that it costs to use public transport will be gladly staying in my purse :)
