YAY my sci fi short story is finally done and ready to be shared!!!!
Title: "The Wolf Children."
Summary blurb: Contact with an intelligent extraterrestrial species involves delving into their past by looking at the paleontological record. But in the process, the protagonist must reflect on humanity's past and what it means to be human. The story's structure is unusual because it takes the form of a journal and the protagonist/narrator is not named.
Themes: others vs self, monsters, human nature, colonization, climate change, history
Trigger warnings/lack thereof: no mentions of sexual violence, however there are violent themes and horror elements. Please tell me if you have specific trigger warnings (on or off anon, or my messages, whichever you prefer) so I can try to be as non spoilery as possible.
I'd love if anyone wanted to read it but don't feel obligated. But you've got to feel comfortable giving me your email because I'm not posting it. As long as I have a vague sense of who you are (I follow you or I've seen your username in my notifications before) I'm super happy for you to read it!!! If you're interested don't be shy! That being said don't reblog this please 😂
I'd also love constructive criticism but don't feel like you have to read it with editing in mind. And be nice 😘
For those of you who are like "this sounds cool but 😬 is she any good" I'm not gonna say I'm super confident in my creative writing abilities but I can say that this 1) has been proofread to death by me and others, 2) is not a wall of text without paragraph breaks, 3) received very positive feedback. Also my mom who loves violent action movies was scared as fuck by it which is very cool.
I tried to make the science on the realistic side (like, no light speed travel! Einstein said no! 🙅) but at the same time I'm not taking my self toooo seriously because the genre is for doing wacky things after all. 😝
