“Can we we go somewhere quiet. My heart beats like a riot. Now it’s just me and you. Know what I’d like to do. It’s ok if you just want to talk, maybe later we can take a walk. I want to know all about you. I hope you want to know all about me too.”
Sci-Fi Caper are the essence of summer. Endless road trips. Days at the beach or in the park depending on where you live. Time well spent with your partner, best friends, dog and/or cat (or all of the above). Emilia, Sam, and Jorge have been creating carefully crafted twee, or to some listeners pop punk, for the past four years or so. Their self titled 15 track album collects songs from the first three years of the bands existence. This record is an incredible live recording documenting the band from Jorge’s garage. There is lofi magic in these live recordings that gives them life far beyond what most bands achieve in their first studio recordings.
Sci-Fi Caper’s songs range from up beat and rollicking to just backing guitar and vocals. The songs are crafted to truly show off Emilia’s vocals whether it’s during the soulful vibes of “Long Division” or the high school slow dance stylings of “Cry Baby” or “Broken Sleep.” When you hit play “XOXO” starts playing, and for me that was the perfect introduction and after a couple listens you will be singing along in no time. Pop punk historically has been a lot of love songs sung from the boys perspective, and it’s always refreshing to hear strong women keeping this long running theme in the genre but giving a perspective that was under represented in it for so many years. The following tracks “Come Home” and “Way Back When” are also person stand outs for me. I’ve seen indie pop proms happening on the East Coast...if you are planning one out west Sci-Fi Caper would have you covered! I’m sure they even know some fun cover songs.

Stared vacantly at a blank piece of paper, with Sam from MWM, for a good 2 hours, until we found the creepiest christmas book ever. Then this happened.
That big ol' soulless-eyed panda bear just wants to share his corn flakes, but the furry girl aint having none of it. More power to her. Corn flakes are awful.
By the way, I just found out that baby rabbits are called 'kittens.' Weird, right?
