Science isn’t evil
Okay, this is something that angers me so much (so sorry in advance, but)
Science is not evil writers.
This shows up SO OFTEN in fiction it’s ridiculous. Look, I get that most to all writers failed math and failed science and hate it because of that, but it’s no excuse to demonize the subject every chance they get.
And just. No science? You know what our world would be like with NO SCIENCE?!
Okay, quick list of stuff we wouldn’t have:
No electricity or powered objections
No sanitation, from plumbing to soap
No medicine worth a damn
No tools beyond sharp rocks and sticks
No plants or animals as we know them- nice and fat
No architecture that isn’t just slapped together
Nothing beyond the freaking Stone Age would exist without science!
Medicine is science. Mathematics is science. Biology is science. Agriculture is science. Engineering is science. Philosophy was a science!
Anything from choice-breeding plants and animals to be fatter and more fruitful (sheep are fluffier, wheat has bigger kernels, etc) to studying what exactly causes illnesses to finding out better ways of doing, well, anything; is science.
“Science[nb 1][1]:58[2] is a systematic enterprise that builds and organizes knowledge in the form of testable explanations and predictions about the universe.[nb 2] “
aka Science tests stuff to find out about the universe. If you ever tried something to figure out what/why it does it, you’re doing science.
So I really don’t get the hatred directed towards science or why it’s always portrayed as evil. What do people think science is? It’s not human experimentation (that’s mostly illegal)- heck most of science has nothing to do with people. Chemistry or astrology or geology or next to any -ology is a science with zero experiments on people. The only field that does is medicine, and that’s to discover what diseases are and how to cure them!
Eugenics is a field of science but it’s an illegal one for the most part, and it’s just one of many fields of science.
Modern medicine especially owes it’s existence to science. DNA? X-rays? Chemotherapy? Knowledge of germs? That’s all science. The people who discovered this stuff were scientists. Without their work, we wouldn’t know what caused a lot (to all) illnesses or how to treat them or how to cure them! There’s a reason medicine took off in this century in particular, and why life expectancy shot up. We wouldn’t have that without science.
Look, eugenics is horrible and a lot of ‘evil scientists’ can be more accurately called ‘evil eugenicists’. And the guys who build death rays? Those are evil engineers. And those guys don’t exist in reality in large numbers, and those that do all work for the government. But it’s just subsets of scientists.
What about all the biologists or computer scientists or psychologists or astrologists or geologists or physicists or chemists? Why are they evil? Why are their fields evil? That’s science too.
Just... why does everyone spit on science. It makes no sense.

NO THANK YOU
So it's been proven that walking through a doorway causes something to reset in your memory, which is why we often go to the next room only to forget why we were going there in the first place.
I am convinced that opening a new tab in Google Chrome has the exact same effect.
Helium + singing = Science pop.
Just sayin'.
